The hotel is great, but alas, the entire area was empty of people. Simply, no tourists (November). Breakfasts were phenomenal, cleaning was great, air condition was not that great and often we felt cooked at night. overall, highly recommended.

The hotel is clean, friendly and helpful staffs, centrally located. The breakfast buffet has so many options. They even packed breakfast for us on the go because we have to leave at 6 am.

Very helpful and accomodating staff
I had a great time staying here. Brilliant views from the room and the staff was very accomodating & service minded helping me with multiple things around my stay: Flexibility in terms of check-out & help both arranging a day-tour as well as my transportation leaving Ha Long Bay, all on a short notice which I genuinely appreciated. 10/10 would definitely stay again.

Arrived during coronavirus worries so very empty hotel and you would have thought the hotel would have been keen to have tourists. However I had the usual Seaview debacle. I booked a Seaview and they were so many rooms available. I was given a bridgeview and was then offered a charge to have a Seaview which I refused to pay. Eventually got given one of the many of the sea view rooms. Ask for a late check-out and they wanted to charge almost the equivalent of a whole night even though the hotel was barely occupied. Was offered 2 hours for free. Customer care completely lacking, all about taking your money

話せばながくなるが、このホテルに宿泊の際は注意した方が良い。最初は感じが良く、フロントも非常にテキパキと仕事をこなし、部屋も良かったし、言うことなしと思っていた。しかし、感じはいっぺん、悪いものづくしとなったなっ。1) 冷蔵庫の品に全く手を付けていないのに、一本ジュースを飲んだ、と請求された。勿論触れてもいないので払わす。宿泊前に利用したハロン湾の一泊のクルーズ船Serena号の運営もハロンプラザホテルも同じ会社。クルーズ船で世話になったやり手のマネージャーに、チェックアウト後のハノイ市内までのプライベート・カーの手配を頼んだ。来る時もホテル、クルーザーと同時に往路のハノイからハロン湾までの車を頼んでいたので、同じ車を頼んだが、用意されたのは汚い少し小さい車だった。それは良いとして、費用は往路アメリカドルで90ドル支払ったことは、本人はよく知っているはず。でも、尋ねたので90ドルと教えた。 出発の朝わざわざ見送りに来てくれ、如何にも親切に装った。まず、その車に一緒に乗り込み自分の住んでいる家の前まで、送らせた。車中で車代の90ドルを要求、100ドル札を渡すと、10ドルのお釣りをベトナムドンでくれた。そこまでは許せるとして、車が走り出すと地道をゆっくりと走る。往路は高速でとても快適にハノイからハロン湾まで来れたが、復路はちがう。埃っぽいガタガタ道を走るので、不思議に感じ30キロ程走った所で、運転手に高速道路に入らないのかと言うと、そんな契約ではない。高速を走るなら高速代わわ払え、とまで言われた。車を手配してくれたマネージャーはプロではなく何だか知人にアルバイトを頼んだ感じ、がした。無駄に2時間も最悪の地道を走り、やっとホアヒンのインターから高速に入った。往路の運転手は乗るなり、ボトル一本の水を我々夫婦にくれ、途中頼んでいなくても、一時間走った辺りで、パーキングエリアに入りトイレ休憩をし、更にもう一度一時間後に2度目の休憩をした。車は大きく、綺麗で、親切丁寧な運転手だった。復路は大違い、時間は掛かるし、一時間半以上無駄にした。トイレ休憩もないので、こちらから申し出たが見つけてくれす、私がホテルの前で車を止めさせ、自ら交渉してトイレをした。どれだけ、セコい事をして少しの小遣い稼ぎをしようとしたのかは知らないが、本当に怪しからん話しである。クルーズ船での親切や、好意は全て水泡に期したと言えるし、彼の信用は全く無くなったと言って良い。口先ばかりの親切は化けの皮が剥げると、最低だ。もう一つストーリーがある。ホテルのレストランで夕食を食べようとした時、ウエイトレスの1人が、突然あなた方の部屋の番号は?と聞かれた。番号を告げると彼女は、レストランから出て行った。不思議に思い、彼女を呼んで責めるも理由を教えない。叱責し始めると男性のスタッフが寄って来て、説明を始めた。 実は昔アメリカのアトランタ市のホテルで同様のことがあり、食事後に部屋に戻ると全ての持ち物が無くなっていた。ウエイトレスが外に出て友人に連絡し、友人2人がマスターキーを使って私の部屋に侵入し、持ち物等を全て盗んでいたのだった。その悪夢を思い出し、叱責したのだ。責任者らしき男性が詫びに来たが、こんな事があってはならない。まだまだあるが、長いので、この辺にする。 兎に角、お客様は神様なんですよ、と言っておきたい。

Room was ok the only thing i don’t like is when I got a massage at the hotel and the masseuse was rude and she kept on pinching me instead of massaging . Overall that was a traumatic experience for me

Underwhelmed. 1 or 2 nights max.
We were a little disappointed with the overall experience at the Halong Plaza hotel. It was off to a poor start when the driver we had organised through the hotel to transfer us from the airport was falling asleep at the wheel! When we raised with the hotel they said it was an external service and so nothing to do with them. I asked to speak to reception manager and he did eventually apologise and upgraded us to the 12th floor and a nice view of the bay, which was appreciated. Lovely view of the rainbow bridge which is beautiful at night. Very little options for food in the daytime as everything closed in the vicinity so we used hotel restaurant but were disappointed with mistakes in the order e.g. I ordered chicken with banana and bacon which came plain. When I asked they said they were out of bananas and presented a side plate of cold bacon. Unimpressed. We tried the bar for happy hour and asked for their advertised 'cocktail of the week', a simple mojito, and the woman behind the bar didn't know what one was so we had spirit and mixer instead for ease. The area is practically a ghost town (we do appreciate Sept is not peak season) and very few people around, we were glad we only booked 2 nights. The hotel did help us organise the Halong bay boat tour which was stunning and reasonable price. A real highlight. Good size pool and extensive gym. The room was very spacious and the bed comfortable. The rainfall shower was very basic and lacked power, nothing special.

This is a beautiful property ruined by HORRIBLE management. I cannot tell you how much the Halong Plaza Hotel seeks to rip off its customers. They cancelled excursions after I booked and paid for them. After their screw up caused me to change my vacation plans, they charged me for a night that I did not say....even though it was their fault. I had laundry done and it cost MORE than any hotel I have ever stayed at in my life. ALMOST $10USD per piece. The front desk manager is the worst I have ever met in my 40 years of travelling. NOTE: I have NEVER given a HORRIBLE rating in my life to any hotel......Halong Plaza has earned that reputation!

El mejor hotel en el que estuvimos en Vietnam
El hotel parece un 5 estrellas, nada de un 4 estrellas. Personal atento, nos cambiaron a una habitación superior porque mi mujer no coge ascensores y estábamos en el piso 11. Vistas increibles, cama y almohada cómoda. Cenamos en el comedor del hotel y la verdad que no fue excesivamente caro para ser Vietnam y cenamos bueno y abundante. El desayuno buffet muy variado, se me hace difícil encontrar alguna pega, igual que no hay muchos restaurantes por la zona, pero vamos que el hotel es espectacular, el mejor de Vietnam.

Die Zimmer waren leider schimmelig und entsprechend muffig. Wir wurden auf Beschwerde hin umquartiert in ein anderes Zimmer. Hier war es zumindest etwas besser, aber auch nicht gut. Selbst in der Lobby war der Geruch bereits zu vernehmen. Das gesamte Gebäude ist kernsanierungsbedürftig.

An old hotel that needs a makeover into 2019. That said, the staff were extremely polite and helpful, the room was quite large (a lot of spare space - was there a sofa missing??) and clean, the pool was wonderful, and the gym was great. It just needs a new paint job and more current decor. Location was about 2kms from any food outlet.

Très bon hôtel et personnel très accueillant! La chambre était grande et agréable, malheureusement elle était très humide malgré l'air climatisé. Cependant, vous avez un gym et une piscine. Le petit déjeuner est absolument délicieux!! Et le personnel a rendu notre visite encore plus incroyable avec son service très bon. Je recommande vivement!

The staff was helpful and welcoming. The room was decent, with the price paid i cant complain on it, however design is still in the middle of 90's. The location of the hotel was OK, 10 minutes walk to the shopping street.

La situation de l hôtel est parfaite.priche des restaurants , marche et autres. Mais ne mérite pas du tout ces 4 étoiles.petit déjeuner médiocre, pas de variété, c est le reste du jour précédent qu' on renouvelle juste la présentation. Chambre spacieuse mais très vieille.

Отель расположен очень удачно - с видом на залив Халонг бэй. Рядом парк развлечений. Нам бесплатно сделали upgrade номера, предоставив шикарный 2-хкомнатный сьют с окнами на разные стороны. Волшебный вид! Персонал исключительно внимательный. Заранее списались с нами, предложили дополнительные услуги, организовали трансфер из аэропорта. Чистота идеальная, в номере есть все, что только можно пожелать. Одним словом, остались самые приятные воспоминания. Могу посоветовать этот отель всем, кто останавливается в Халонге

Very nice hotel, but basic pool
British, couple in early twenties. Generally the hotel was beautiful, nice rooms (although no balcony), extremely clean, not too far from shops and bars, breakfast we were spoiled for choice and the hotel staff are very friendly. The hotel lobby was very pretty, nice bar, free pool table. The only thing that let the hotel down is that the pool is very outdated, the outside of the hotel needs a repaint (by the pool), there's no snack bar or bar at the pool, and the sunbeds are very old. Still very clean to be fair and adequate for an end of day swim, however not really suitable for half a day relaxing due to the lack of facilities. Halong was a nice town, however when we went at the start of September it was a ghost town almost, which meant our hotel was also extremely quiet. The area felt pretty safe, we didn't have any hassle apart from booking a taxi back to Hanoi airport. The hotel charges $80 each way, but it's safe and reliable. We found one for $30 on the way back to save money, but it definitely wasn't reliable or a safe journey back, so I would recommend the hotel service any day.

I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay, especially room, location, breakfast, lobby as same as hotel's staff. However, I am sorry that pool facilities are not up to your expectation. We have approached to BOD and we are planning to set up pool bar and have some new decoration in near future. Regarding to transfer, I am pleased to know that you enjoy the trip we arranged. Quite Ok but a lot to improve on the side
The hotel is nice and well located. But some things are not manager properly. We stayed 4 nights and each nights people were making noise for hours in the hotel without any manager taking action by themselves. More than that, i took multiple times taxis at the entry gate, and they always tried to scam me and when i refused to pay 20 times the rate i got threatened in front of my kids. I reported that to the hotel with id of the driver and the 2 next day he was still in front scaming tourist. I don't know at what point the hotel management is involved in this.
