The Centurion Hakone Bettei is a serene and beautifully designed ryokan that excels in hospitality, cleanliness, and overall comfort. The staff are exceptionally attentive, often providing personalized service and helpful shuttle support that enhances the stay. Rooms are peaceful and thoughtfully styled, many with private onsen baths that offer a relaxing, intimate experience. Meals—especially dinner—are generally delicious and well presented, adding to the sense of luxury.
That said, the hotel’s quiet setting also means it’s a bit remote, so transportation can be less convenient. We found the private baths smaller than expected, and breakfast leans more Japanese than Western. Prices are on the higher side compared to simpler ryokans, which may affect value for those prioritizing convenience or larger facilities.
Overall, Centurion Hakone Bettei is an excellent choice if you’re seeking a tranquil, high-service retreat—perfect for unwinding, but less ideal for travelers who want easy access to sightseeing or budget-friendly options.
