Waterfront Bliss
Words cannot accurately describe the beauty of this property. Located right on the ocean, the views are spectacular and we enjoyed every minute we spent here, taking in the sunrises and watching the lobster boats in Frenchman's Bay. We loved staying in Hancock, which is a nice distance from all the places we love to visit when in Maine Chippers Restaurant is right down the road and my husband enjoyed the Lobster Alfredo immensely. We find ourselves in Ellsworth and Bar Harbor often when we visit and this location provides a tranquility away from all the hustle. Judy is a wonderful hostess - very friendly, accommodating, and accessible. We very much appreciate any host who makes their property available to pets as well. While we have a pet sitter at home for our other cats, we were able to travel with our special needs cats. This provided a peace of mind for us and a memorable adventure for them. Thanks, Judy, for a wonderful week! Would highly recommend this house/location to anyone looking for the authentic Maine experience.

Absolutely Gorgeous and Memorable Experience
My wife and I stayed here for our first stay in Maine. The property is within 45 minutes of so many hikes and things to do that aren't even inside Acadia National Park. The highlight was Judy's friend Bob. We called him up and he was able to hand deliver a couple of Lobsters that he had caught that morning in the dense fog for us to cook up that night. The cottage is old and you can tell but it just adds to the charm of the coastal Maine experience. Judy was great at communicating and making sure we knew that if we needed anything she would be available to fix it. I don't think we could have enjoyed our stay more unless the weather had been a little clearer but can't control that!

Thanks for the lovely review! The house is only about 60 years old. View, waterfron, deck, firplace convenient location, tastefully furnished, on call handman, and fresh lobster delivered...if this isnt enough......go spend more! I guess !

Beautiful view but house needs a lot of work
The view was stunning but the house was not. First of all, the house smells very musty. The basement is non usable because of the strong odor. There were fans going in every room when we checked in so this has obviously been an on going issue. The stairs leading to the basement are VERY dangerous. There is no handrail on the open side of the stairs. Do NOT rent if you have small children as there is no door to keep them from going to those stairs. The house needs a great deal of repair.

Thanks for your candid review. I had to have the firelace serviced after your companions played with the inner mechanisms. Unskilled repairmen are very dangerous when they independently take on a task for which they are untrained. Funny no one else has mentioned the dilapidated state of the house! I think Barbara was offended because she updated me on an issue two days after she left ! She said she didn't think I could do anything anyway. I had just left the place and could have corrected it, had I been updated....but she decided not to tell me! If she had issues, as I had advised, let me know asap. I can get most anything fixed, if I have a day or two, but when you don't share that info with me....it's very difficult....No I certainly would not rent to her again. When she was there she said to me everything was great...There's one in every crowd! The cottage isn't perfect, but then what is! As my reviews testify...it's an adorable little place convenient, cozy, and charming and with a very attentive owner !

Gorgeous view
The deck has the most gorgeous view of bay. Got to see some wildlife right from the deck. It in a great location not too far from a national park. I got to say it’s one of the best places I’ve stayed in the last three years I’ve been renting.

Cottage on the water in Hancock
While Hancock is a drive to Bar Harbor, the cottage had an amazing view of the water (and night sky/stars) and all supplies necessary to enjoy our stay. The owner, Judy, recommended a lobsterman that brought fresh lobsters right to our door for a very reasonable price. We hiked, biked and kayaked for a fun, outdoor vacation…and even took in a beautiful sunrise from the deck of the cottage.

Decent spot with promise
Pros- great host, full kitchen, two full bathrooms, incredible view, direct access to the shoreline, great deck, fire pit, washer/dryer, great grill! Cons- leaky toilets, low water pressure, visibly dirty floors, showers had hair on walls from previous guests! My mom was with us and checked in several hours before we arrived. She did a bunch of cleaning and that made things much better. Overall a great spot and would have been excellent if it was clean.

Seriously! Brought parents with her with camper which they opened on the lawn...very undesirable! House immaculate on arrival. No issues with toilets expressed to owner. If she has any type of problem she should let owner . know .....not 2 days after departure. Undesirable guest!!!!!!

Best cottage
We absolutely loved the cottage. It was in a great location and easy to get to Bar Harbor and Schoodic Point! The wrap around deck was fantastic and we saw so much wildlife right there at the cottage every day. The eagles and the harbor seals were some of our favorites! Judy had flowers in every room which just added to the charm. She was a gem!

A Grand Estuary
This lovely cottage was the perfect location for a pair of old romantics interested in the natural world. The secluded estuary was teeming with life from the roses surrounding the cottage to beautiful fresh bouquets inside. We were entertained daily by a pair of eagles flying within 6 feet of the deck, a few seals at low tide, and schools of Menhaden dancing atop the water. We enjoyed our stay immensely and hope to return in the Springtime.

Good Times in Maine
The property was as advertised - a beautiful place on the bay near Acadia National Park. The views were amazing, and sitting on the deck overlooking it all was fabulous. We made good use of the kitchen and laundry facilities while we were there, and the beds were comfortable. Judy was very communicative and easy to work with. We would stay here again!

Perfect location for relaxation
Location was private but with easy access to multiple points of interest. The deck was perfect for sitting and rocking on the rocking chairs enjoying the beautiful view including gorgeous sunrises. The house was designed so three couples could easily stay together. The maintenance person, Rob, was excellent and responded quickly to our minor requests. The owner went out of her way to make sure we were satisfied with our stay. Highly recommended.

Judy’s place has a lovely setting with many options of activities nearby. There was ample room and can accommodate many people. We took advantage of using the large lobster pot one evening which was fun. Very quiet and relaxing!

Quiet retreat
This is a lovely cottage with spectacular views! The house is older and some furnishings are dated but comfortable with truly beautiful views. The night sky was thrilling; it's been a while since I saw the milky way with such clarity!

Relaxing Vacation in Maine
Wonderful Maine cottage on Frenchman’s Bay. Perfect for my family which was two couples. Loved eating our meals on the large deck, having time by the fire pit in the evenings too. The view is super! Kitchen had plenty to make our In-house meals easy. Lots of towels and essential items. New washer and dryer. I loved hearing the tide each morning and in the evening. We had a couple warmer days, but our host, Judy had fans for each room that was helpful. Judy was available to answer all my questions and make suggestions too! Loved visiting the nearby towns of Bar Harbor, Camden and Belfast. Acadia was wonderful and we did the sunrise one morning which was worth it for the whole family. The week flew by and we enjoyed our time in Maine.

We enjoyed the “ cottage “ feel of the house. Sitting on the deck and watching nature was a very calming pleasure. The house is equipped with everything you need. We called Bob and had lobsters delivered. Couldn’t get any fresher than that. The flowering bushes and the pots of flowers added to the charm. We would recommend this property and the owner to all. Peaceful and Relaxing
This was a great property for our family of 7. Very clean and amazing views. The kids had fun along the shore at low tide. If you are looking for “5 stars” like the Ritz, this is not the place for you...but if you want a clean, fuss-free rental with fantastic outdoor spaces in a great location, then this could be your ticket. Judy, the owner, was easily to communicate with and made sure our stay was lovely. I would definitely recommend to friends! (I’d suggest bringing some books or toys for the youngest set...our 4 year old could have used more to do during downtime.)

Great and not so great...
The location of this property is perfect for exploring the area. The deck has a new patio table and chairs and is where we spent the majority of our time as the view is simply amazing! Watching the tide change, the seals feeding on the schools of fish and the lobster boats coming and going. The sunrise over the water was breathtaking. The cottage itself is charming, beautiful pine wood floor and fireplace in the living room, but needs some serious TLC to be brought to it's full potential. The pet odors were overwhelming, dirty carpeting and many items in need of attention. The listing stated new kitchen and new carpet, but this was not the case. The kitchen did have newer appliances and flooring, but the rest of it needed updates and repairs. It was a warmer week while we were there and the owner did supply new fans for each room which was greatly appreciated. While we were disappointed with many things in this property, we tried to focus on the outdoor space and view and enjoying all the Maine has to offer - including having fresh lobster delivered to our door! Definitely the highlight of our time at the cottage!

Hancock cottage was quiet, serene, and lovely. It is a special place to truly unwind. The water views are breathtaking. We loved watching the birds and the sparkly water and the seal that visits at high tide. The beds are very comfortable and kitchen is adequately stocked. The home is actually quite spacious and open and very bright. We plan on booking next year !

Huge let down!
I will start with the only positive thing about the property and that is the view, it was absolutely breathtaking! The house was not ready when we arrived at the check in time which after traveling 8 hrs was disappointing. When we got inside the house it had a very strong unpleasant smell and was filthy. The kitchen had grease splattered on the stove and countertops, the carpet had hair and we even found pills on the floor in the bedroom. The main bathroom shower curtain had mold on it and the very first night the toilet wouldn't flush...yes, it had a second bathroom in the basement but it was extremely inconvenient. I contacted Judy at that time and she did have someone come the next day to fix it. We are not crazy clean freaks but it was filthy, we spent the first 2 hrs there cleaning! My recommendation would be to have the house "professionally" cleaned and invest in some comfortable furniture!

A great experience
Cathy and i came to Maine to celebrate our 40th anniversary. We honeymooned there . We prefer staying in a home rather than a hotel. Judith's cottage was just what we were looking for, a cozy cabin with a stunning waterfront view in a nice quiet area. Judith was a great host. She met us at the cottage with fresh cut flowers and helpful information about the sights in the area. The location was perfect. No traffic noise, just the sounds of the water and the sea birds, yet close enough for quick trips to Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, etc. We will definitely be returning.

A Slice of Paradise
We just had an amazing week at Judy's property. I can't say enough about the exceptional location of her cottage. Serene, peaceful, a slice of heaven. Sunrises that we experienced from the deck overlooking Frenchman's Bay were simply spectacular and rival those seen in Acadia! A bald eagle has a home at the top of one of the highest pine trees not too far from the cottage and he treat us on occasion to a fly-by. We even saw seals in the water directly in front of the cottage Judy was very responsive to our every request and was an excellent host. The property had everything we needed for a fabulous vacation!

beautiful house with beautiful views
We loved this house and its beautiful location with lovely views. We were a family with two couples and an additional adult daughter. The set up was excellent for two couples, with a very private bedroom area in the basement. The location was also excellent for us, since the younger folk wanted to mountain climb in Acadia National Park on the Island, while we oldsters wanted to visit parts east at a slower pace. We noticed quite a few people kayaking nearby, though we did not. WiFi was great, and the house had an abundance of television where you could stream what you wished to see. But if you just wanted to stay put and enjoy the Maine coast, this was a good place to do it! Can't say enough good things about this house and very cooperative owner!

Quiet, relaxing and pretty refuge
We have been vacationing in Maine for many years. This is the first time we stayed in this cottage, and hope to return in the future. It is everything described in the listing and more. It is alongside another rental property, but private. The location is quiet and pretty. It is a very relaxing spot to sit on the deck, or on the lawn in the fire pit area and take a nap or read a book. Although it is away from it all, it is only a 20 minute drive to Ellsworth for groceries at the Hannaford or Shaws. This is the first time that we never actually went to Acadia Park. There are a number of nice hiking trails a short distance (check the Frenchman's Bay Conservancy website ). Overall, one of our best times in Maine

Beautiful, serene setting
This is a quiet location about an hour to bar harbor and Acadia. This home has a lovely deck and fire pit area overlooking a great bay view. That is what you are paying for. The home is roomy and simple. You would not describe it as luxurious or upscale. Stay at a b & b if you are looking for that type of accommodation. Stay here if you are looking for a quiet retreat with a dreamy view.

Thank you Leigh ........ Most people don't call it simple The words they use are charming, comfortable, secluded, convenient, and cozy. I never really tried to make it luxurious....What you're paying for is to be on the water, and I mean on the water, in Maine, in the dead of summer, at what I call a fairly reasonable price.. Last year we used to get lobster delivered into the refrig just out of the water. I think that is really special. Unfortunately Babe, my resident lobsterman, died last fall. We miss him terribly.......

The perfect getaway
As pretty as they are, the pictures don't do the setting of the cottage justice, it's a perfect place to escape and relax with a beautiful view. No matter whether you're sitting on the beach, the porch, or the couch you can enjoy the outdoors and listen to the tide! My husband and I were both working remotely all week, so we had our computers set up at the dining table... but just being able to see and hear the water through the open porch door made it feel like vacation. We made a couple trips into Acadia and even the drive over there is stunning, especially in the autumn... biking the carriage roads in Acadia is a must if you have some mountain bikes. But not to discount the beauty of Hancock Point... I took the bike out one sunny afternoon to explore and every time I came around a bend down to the water I was blown away. Once you get down to the point, Cadillac Mountain and Acadia are right across the water and just, wow. Go exploring when it's low tide, and there's an incredible secluded spot just past Carter's Beach that's a huge beach between a pond and the cove that's completely empty outside the summer season. Great place for a picnic lunch! Judy is lovely to work with, and when we had a bit of miscommunication at the beginning of our trip which she was incredibly helpful in resolving and making sure everything was perfect for us. Thank you for everything and we hope to be back soon!

Peaceful Reprieve
We had a wonderful trip! It was our first trip to Maine for a girls weekend. The house was close to everything that we wanted to see. The view and foliage was fantastic! We literally watched the leaves change colors. We loved searching for sea glass on the beach, exploring, sitting by the fire pit and unwinding. Judy was fabulous. This location did not disappoint.

Such a relaxing time - EXACTLY what we needed!
My husband and I and 2 of our closest friends were looking for a relaxing getaway. We are from NY, so the drive to Maine was absolutely beautiful. I booked the cottage as the location and views from the property looked so pretty. When we arrived, it was a real "WOW" of a view! The house had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Judy was a pleasure to deal with and gave us some great suggestions to eat out locally. Also suggested an excellent place to buy our fresh lobsters. We look forward to returning to the cottage with some family from Australia once the world opens up again.

Wonderful location but with a few issues
PROS: Great location and view of the water Beautiful deck and fire pit area Nice large grill Great view of water from living room windows and master bedroom Attentive host who called ahead of time to orient us New, nice washer and dryer CONS: Found mouse droppings- especially downstairs- informed owner who was aware of the problem. Led us to avoid using the downstairs bathroom and living area Came home to a large swarm of flies one day (no open windows or doors)- informed owner who sent someone over quickly however our only option was to set off a bug fogger, leave the property for a couple hours and then vacuum up a large quantity of dead flies

Yes, we had a little issue with a mouse....This is rural Maine, and weather had been quite chilly and dry, and lots of homownets have been complaining about mice coming inside, or trying to! First mention of this! We set a few mouse traps and will continue to monitor the status, but not unusual around here. The flies............ who knows no critical issue. This is a great place to stay! Everything about it was wonderful. Such a peaceful spot right on the bay and far from the madding crowd in Bar Harbor and Acadia, but with easy access to both. We were there for a long Labor Day weekend and somebody across the bay was kind enough to treat us to some great fireworks!

We had a wonderful stay at this comfortable cottage! The views of the water from the fantastic wrap-around porch are amazing. The location is convenient to Bar Harbor, Acadia, and Schoodic Peninsula.

Beautiful view
My family, including a tween and a teen, stayed 5 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our time at this charming cottage. The incredible views from almost every window were breathtaking. Took the dog on a daily walk around the cove, dined on the lovely wrap-around deck and soaked up the sounds of the working harbor (lobster boats in the morning were my favorite). We also hung out daily in the water and were always the only people as far as the eye could see. Perfect spot to get away but still practice social distancing. Looking forward to returning very soon!

A very pleasant stay.
My husband and two children stayed here for 2 weeks. We had the most wonderful time and most beautiful view. Judy very attentive and her cottage is just lovely. The lobsters fresh from the boat were an extra bonus. We enjoyed our time very much. Thank you Judy!!! :)

Peaceful hideaway with spectacular view!
My family immensely enjoyed this beautiful house, a perfect getaway from it all vacation with a gorgeous view with all the amenities needed for a completely relaxing time. Judy, the owner, made everything a total breeze, being so warm and attentive to our needs. Close enough to Acadia, that there was always things to see and do. We visited Southwest Harbor, Winter Harbor, Bass Harbor, Schoodic Peninsula among other things, biked, hiked, kayaked, and enjoyed relaxing around the firepit. Made first time in Maine a very memorable one.

Lovely Maine Oceanside Cottage
Had a wonderful time on the coast. The cottage is as advertised. It is a traditional Maine cottage on the coast. As others have noted, bathrooms have not been updated — but are clean and functional. We had 3 adults, two kids (7 and 6) and two dogs and there was plenty of room. We used the downstairs area to do puzzles and games on a rainy day. Having a wash machine and dryer comes in handy. The porch is awesome and has amazing views. Cooked hot dogs and s’mores at the fire pit. When the tide goes out, you can walk the beach and see lots of shells and fun things in the tidal pools. The living room has a smart tv with Netflix, prime video and Disney — which is great when the fog rolls in and folks want to stay in. Easy to do a drive around Schoodic Point or to head back to Ellsworth for things you may have forgotten. Can hear the lobster boats head out a first light which is wonderful. In light of COVID we didn’t venture far or partake of many of the area businesses. However, would highly recommend YU takeout in Hancock. Best fried clams ever. Offers up a combination of Chinese food and seafood plus stuff for the kids to enjoy. We had a wonderful time.

Beautiful location, quiet and charming
We were looking for a quiet place to get away and Judy's cottage was perfect. The view from the porch and kitchen was stunning even on a foggy Maine morning. Close to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Judy is a response and great to work with.

Beautiful Fall Foliage/Ocean Setting
We thoroughly enjoyed our October 11-16 stay at the cottage. The pictures and description accurately depict the cottage... and the Fall foliage surrounding the cottage was beautiful. Judy was great to work with and facilitated us in getting live lobsters twice. We particularly enjoyed watching Babe and his two lobstermen crew go and come from running their lobster traps... and even bringing two, 2 pound lobsters to our doorstep one afternoon. And visits to Acadia were breathtaking... the leaves were as pretty as we've ever seen them over many years of Fall visits. Walter and Sherry.

Amazing views!
What a property! The views are amazing, ever changing with the tides and angle of the sun. With the large windows in the kitchen, I could've washed dishes by hand all day, every day (almost)! The house was perfect for a family of 3 (one toddler). The house was clean, kitchen well appointed, and Judy was always available for questions. We grilled out a few nights, and just stared out the windows. The washer and dryer were a great plus. The house is about 40min from downtown Bar Harbor, but only 25min from the Schoodic Peninsula. We drove to the International Park at Campobello island in under 2hrs. We could not have picked a better time to visit - it was near peak fall color, and crowds were less during the week. We are already discussing when we can return. The house made our stay very comfortable.

Location!
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Maine a few weeks ago! This property had everything we could possibly need and more with fantastic views. The overall location gave us quick access to Bar Harbor and Acadia. Plus, our two dogs were welcomed and enjoyed their trip as well! Judy was great to work with throughout the entire process and was very quick to respond to any questions. We highly recommend traveling to this area and staying at this property!

Perfect Maine Coastal Getaway
Judy’s cottage is absolutely THE perfect quiet cozy getaway. Located on a quiet cove it provides quiet restful days. Yet it’s close enough to Acadia National Park and all local sights that going is easy. Especially when you have such a cozy place to return to. We were sad to leave. Judy is extremely responsive to any questions or issues. I would return in a heartbeat.

Frenchman Bay Cottage
We were a party of four who have traveled together and stayed with several VRBO properties, in the past. This was our first trip to Maine and chose this lovely cottage as our home away. It is a perfect open concept floorplan with two queen size bedrooms on the first floor. While there is additional space, we didn't need the downstairs bedroom. The wrap around porch provides for seating and vistas that are gorgeous. I can add that the weather was supreme. The cottage is clean and truly belongs on the waterfront. The kitchen has all the amenities for cooking. The property owner, Judy, is very welcoming and responds to questions very quickly. She engages with a backup team that is also ready to make the stay comfortable and enjoyable. The area is located north of Bar Harbor and was out of the bustle of summer traffic and tourists. Judy provided a list of attractions, which we followed, and toured the coast of the great state of Maine.

Great location to explore Acadia, etc
Spent 5 nights here with my wife and 2 kids(8 and 4). Great location to explore Acadia, Schoodic, Bar Harbor, etc. Everything is about 30 minutes away, but it’s worth it to have a little slice of the Maine coastline at your backdoor. The kids(and adults) loved poking around the beach out back looking for creatures, s’mores at the fire pit, star gazing, and coffee on the porch in the morning. I want to go back!
