'It was a bit funky place, but it was spacious for 4 people. The sink in the bathroom was so tiny that I had to use the kitchen sink to do the normal stuff. There aren't any stores around, and it was a 10-minute walk to the nearest convenience store. If not driving, it is not a very convenient location, but it is walkable to/from the JR Toyoshina station. I didn't think it was worth the cost (about $300 for 1 night), but it was during the mid-August travel time in Japan.'

'We enjoyed going to hakuba. We found the sleeping arrangements uncomfortable. The Matt’s and beds felt uncomfortable. The upstairs bedroom was warm without its own ac. The towels are microfiber and difficult to try off. There is no chairs and no couch to watch tv on. The room on the first floor smelled like mildew. We did not feel relaxed in this house which is why I am leaving my first negative review on vrbo.'

"The staff was really great and helped me deal with a situation created by both another hotel and hotels.com so I am really grateful for that. The free meal at night is really a great add on, and delicious. The room was clean, big, with everything you need and the window could open which was great considering the nights were cool enough to get some fresh air. Location is perfect as well, right next to the castle. They have pyjamas from S to XL. Didn't try the communal bath but I liked that there is a code for women. There is a 7 Eleven nearby."
