'My wife and I stayed at Mara Explorer for 6 nights in September 2023. This was our third Safari in Kenya. The Mara Explorer is the most magical and enchanting location for a safari I could ever imagine. Everything was impeccable - the amazingly friendly and professional staff, wonderful hospitality, service, and beautiful food. 'We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 night stay at Mara Duma in a triple tent. The tent was right on the Talek River and we slept to the sounds of hippos grunting and frogs. The staff were exceptional - warm, friendly, kind and helpful - and went out of their way to make our stay amazing. Food was tasty and home cooked and they catered for my gluten allergy brilliantly - i didnt get contaminated. 'Visited Ashnil as part of a longer trip. The other Lodges have excellent dinner and lunch meals and service. Here, we were told on arrival that each sitting would cost us a small fortune for what turned out to be very mediocre meals. You are in the middle of nowhere, so paying for these meals left a bitter taste in the mouth for a one-night stay. Service was inferior, period. The bathrooms are horrible - see photos. 'Amazing Camp in the middle of Tsavo West. All the staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming and helpful. Our lodge was very clean, spacious and cozy. The bed had a good and clean mosquito net and the matress was super comfortable. Our terrace was right in front of a small water hole were we saw loads of animals like antilopes, zebras, monkeys, flocks of birds and even a crocodile. 'It was altogether wonderful BUT we did not know that the camp, being inside the Lake Nakuru Park would mean paying a great deal more than the hotel rates - an extra £300, for the 2days. Your booking should warn people of this before they book the camp.'
