'The main building of this property is beautiful and well cared for, but we were in the Clayton building that was behind the main building. It was very old, in need of renovation, and not what I was expecting. The gym was nice. It was still winter, so the pool was not open.'

'If you stay here be prepared for a boat load of hidden fees. After paying in full, you will be required to pay a 100 dollar deposit when you arrive. They will also charge over 20 dollars in "resort fees" billed as your preparing to check out. Great experience but the price quoted here is NOT what you will pay. Feels very sheisty and backhanded.'

'We usually stay at drury properties no matter where we go, Fairview heights even though a newer one was probably the worst. The rooms were clean but the pool and hot tub were absolutely disgusting there were hair, skin pieces, bandaids, and the overwhelming smell of urine. You could tell it had not been cleaned in a long time. And the hot tub jets did not work at all it was stagnant people soup. The staff seemed to not care about anything at all. 'This was my third stay at The Principal Hotel. The history of this property is unique and the rooms are amazing - essentially in brand-new condition and very tastefully designed and decorated. 'They put us in room 103. Room on first floor next to the elevator. Up until 2am - every person that checked in - pulled their luggage cart down the hall over hump into the elevator.
The room smelled like smoke and the heat/air unit sounded like a chain saw starting- every time it turned on!
Apparently- there was some type of sports team that checked in - sounded like elephants doing jumping jacks- above us!
Our granddaughter had a dance competition- long day, 14 hours- and we got maybe 3 hours...
