Geweldige sfeer, prima ontbijt, fantastische ligging, heel vriendelijk personeel. Sanitair echt aan vernieuwing toe, douchen is een uitdaging, wc spoelen lang niet altijd door.

Prima hostel maar aan de prijzige kant voor een hostel. Het is verder prima en goed geslapen. Leuk om met vrienden te overnachten. Verwacht niks speciaals.

Wij zijn niet de doelgroep - familie met 2 kinderen van 9 en 11 in een youthhostel.. Day wisten we van tevoren al, maar de recensies zag er best goed uit. Het personeel is echt aardig en klantgericht, maar dat is dan ook het enige positieve puntje. De kamers zijn niet echt schoon en helemaal versleten (vloerbedekking vol met brandgaten, toiletdeksel stuk, deir kon niet vrrgrendelt worden wamt stuk enz.). De handdoeken, die je er voor £4 per stuk kan lemen waren ook versleten. Dus samengevat: de eerste en laatste keer.

The Generator
Het is en blijft een hostel. De kamers zijn klein en de voor toilet en douche moet je op de gang in de sanitaire blok (mannen en vrouwen gescheiden). Op de binnenkant van de kamerdeur hangen een aantal regels waaronder het lawaai beperken. Helaas hadden onze buren dit niet gelezen. Onze kamer was net boven de bar dus ook daarvan tot 3u 's nachts lawaai. Het luide afzuigsysteem in de kamer gaat rond 22u tot halverwege de nacht. Onze kraan in de kamer lekte en de technieker zou de volgende dag langskomen, helaas is dit niet gebeurt. Een verblijf van 2 nachten was voor ons genoeg.

Goede ligging, mooi aangekleed.
We kwamen aan en konden redelijk vlot inchecken, kregen een kamen op de 5e verdieping. Ontbijt kon voor 7 pond worden bijgeboekt. Toch maar gedaan. 2 persoons kamer met stapelbed was ok. Een extra stoel kon geen kwaad. Het was wel erg koud, buiten ook. De verwarming werkte niet. Nadat we dit gemeld hadden de 2e dag in de avond. Werd er geen actie ondernomen. In de ochtend nog eens gemeld. 's avonds nog geen verbetering. Het werd steeds kouder! Er werd beloofd dat er iemand kwam kijken. Niemand gezien. Toen nog 2x terug en boos geworden. We kregen excuses en een klein straalkacheltje mee. Dat hielp voor ons. Bij uitchecken kon er geen bedankje of groet af. Ontbijt was rommelig en veel was er op of wedt te laat bijgevuld.

Unfortunately with it being a listed building, the opportunity for us to change the shape and size of the rooms is not there. Tot 3u in de nacht herrie van discomuziek. Door de gangen gillende jongeren. Meerdere keren per nacht geklop aan deur. 1 nacht brandalarm door stiekem rokende jongeren. 100 meter lopen met 5 branddeuren ertussen om vieze toilet te bezoeken. Om van de douches niet te spreken: overal haren en tandpasta vlekken. In slaapkamer verstopte wasbak (na melding niets ermee gedaan!). Verf van de muren dat eraf viel en daardoor de vloer vervuilde. Gelukkig heb ik met mijn kinderen genoten van de prachtige musea in Londen en zo probeerden wij zo weinig mogelijk in hotel te zijn. Kluis huren voor koffers is 7-8 pond. Goedkoper om het in musea (bijvoorbeeld British Museum, is vlakbij en deze hebben wij als laatst bezocht) achter te laten als je daarna weer naar huis gaat. In kamers heb je slotjes nodig voor opbergvak, deze zelf mee nemen. Ook handdoeken en handzeep zelf mee.

We are family with 4 and the room is very very small. the shower facility was not too good and damaged. No free luggage storage and you have to pay and store it in locker. Breakfast costed 9 pounds per one, child half. It is suitable for backpacker but not for family

This place is good only if you are short of money, don’t expect this to be like the Ritz. You will encounter with low class uneducated people, loud rude teenagers that won’t let you sleep. However I supposed if you are lucky you will get a quiet room, a good with considerate roommates and a clean wall without buggers.

Best possible location, Russell Square underground station is a straight shot from Heathrow on the Piccadilly line, the hostel is also 2 blocks from Euston, a major train station. Shopping center half block away with 3 groceries including an awesome Asian one, restaurants everywhere in every direction. 2 block from the Nat’l library & its reading rooms if you need somewhere to sit quietly & relax, b/c that won’t be happening in the hostel which has no common areas except it’s restaurant/bar where you must buy something to hang out. British Museum less than 15 minutes by foot on the other side of Russell Square. Cramped rooms, tiny showers, half the bathroom stall doors don’t lock, not enough electrical outlets, but with this location they really don’t have to make any apologies…

1 Sammeldusche & Toilette für den ganzen Flur mit circa 40 Mehr-Zimmern. Ein Handtuch unabhängig davon wie lange der Aufenthalt ist. Keine sitzmöglichkeit, um eigenes Essen zu essen.

Make sure you dont get the basement rooms.
Stayed up in London, and been asked for ID they trow up a fuss if you dont have a physical ID and seem to make up the rules as they go along. The smell in the basement floor rooms was horrendous, like the piss house of london.

Very handy to those main attractions like British Museum. It is in close proximity to the main traffic hub, King's cross St Pancras Station, so easy to plan travelling to the places nearby London. During my stay, I woke up very earlier due to noise; I am not sure whether it was due to the operation of the Underground (my best guess, it is located on top of an underground line. In addition, it was not warm inside the room as the heater was mounted almost up to the celling and it was central controlled (only turned on around 20:00 during my stay)

Guasto al riscaldamento, ma...
Abbiamo prenotato una stanza doppia (2 letti a castello) per due notti. Appena entrati notiamo che il riscaldamento non funziona e in camera c'è freddissimo (prima settimana di dicembre). Dopo aver riportato il problema al ragazzo in reception, lui stesso va a verificare e ci informa che il tecnico sarebbe arrivato solo il giorno successivo. Nel frattempo veniamo spostati in un dormitorio da 8 letti, ma riservata solo a noi (come da nostra prenotazione). Il giorno successivo il guasto non era ancora stato riparato e lo staff dell'ostello ci ha confermato che potevamo restare nella stanza da 8 senza problemi. La gentilezza dei ragazzi e la soluzione provvisoria hanno ampiamente sostituito il disagio delle prime ore nella stanza fredda. Torneremo in Generator in qualche altra città.
