6/10
Excellent location, though it shares that with a whole bunch of hotels. The building is well-maintained, the reception desk is manned 24/7 and the rooms have a bunch of nice little extra's (fan, water cooker, good lighting, etc.) and are spacious.
But no airconditioning meant unbearably hot rooms (halfway through June) and even the tap water was lukewarm. The elevator has two manually operated doors and the controls are iffy, not a safe feeling. Also, the matress felt like it survived the world wars (thin, lumpy) and the breakfast was really poor, considering you can get a decent English breakfast on every street corner for a few pounds. Overcooked bacon, refried eggs, undercooked sausages.
Since my primary needs in a hotel are a good night's sleep and decent breakfast, my overall rating is rather poor. The staff was nice though and the pricing high, but acceptable considering the location. Would still recommend trying any of the other nearby hotels (of which there are dozens).
