I am so sorry and sad you appeared to have such a terrible time at my home. I would make the following comments.
I have reviewed all the mattresses, and find them all to be clean and sound, and actually fairly new. Mattresses are a matter of personal taste: what is right for one person is uncomfortable for another. I am sorry that they were uncomfortable for you, but I have had comments from other guests that they have never slept better, and that they have been one of the most comfortable they ever slept in.
The Spa was inspected and cleaned by my agent on the day you arrived. Any smell she may have noted was the smell of bromine used to keep the water sterile. At present, we do not change the water between each guest for the following reason.
It is only recommended to change the water every 6 – 8 weeks. To do so more frequently is not a good idea environmentally.
• The whole water content is circulated every 20 minutes through the 2 filters and one water skimmer.
• The water is treated with bromine which sterilises the water.
• There is a further ultraviolet steriliser of the water.
• One does not change the water in a swimming pool every time someone new swims in it.
• If we were to change the water between each rental, the Spa would be out of action for at least 24 hours after while the water is heated up again.
However, if you had asked my manager to refill the Spa she would have done so.
The “trash” in the grate of the fireplace is my fault. I put dried paper, cardboard and plastic that cannot be recycled into the grate, as this acts as good kindling when you light a fire, and is environmentally valuable, as it gets rid of non-recyclable products while not having to use “bad for environment” fire lighters.
I am very sorry the television was not accessing any channels. NOBODY told me or my agent that this was not working. If you had reported this to my agent, she would have had it repaired. The DVDs are complimentary and owned by me. They are not in German because I don’t speak German, and it was not my intention to provide DVDs in every possible language. Most people bring along their own media and plug it in using the internet or bring their own DVDs.
I am sorry the electrics kept tripping the fuse. I am afraid Italian electric supply is meagre to say the least, 3 kw is the standard supply. I have managed to persuade them to give me an extra 6 KW as I was intending to attach a kiln. If you have all the Jacuzzi motors, the oven and the washing machine going at once, then the electrics will trip. This is a safety device. However, since I have been at the house in the last few days, it has not tripped once.
Thank you for highlighting the bumpy nature of the top of the drive. I have known that this has worsened since the heavy rains in the winter, and is one of the jobs I have to do this autumn. I refute it is only suitable for off road vehicles. I have only ever had 2 wheeled drive, and have always been able to drive to the top with only minor difficulty. However, I agree it is in need of improving. It was not done over the summer because the drive was in constant use.
I had not wanted to make Covid an excuse for suboptimal service as I have a team of a manager, 3 cleaners, an electrician, handyman/builder, television repairman and a plumber who are all available if required. However, as you know, I have not been able to get out here for nearly a year due to travel restrictions. As you also know I delayed coming out to Italy for your convenience, to allow you to come here one week later. Now I have arrived, I have been able to inspect the property for myself, and find my manager has done an excellent job in my absence. If only she had been told of your dissatisfaction with the Spa and the non-functioning television, she would have resolved them.
