We had to switch rooms after the first night because the toilet handle broke, then they forgot to turn the water back on and it wouldn’t flush. We had to use the ice bucket and fill the tank with water from the sink. My spouse had to figure out how to turn the water back on and did, as maintenance never showed back up to fix. Our room was next to the elevator and ice machine and noise from the ice makers, elevator traffic and outside hvac units kept us awake all night. The second room had stains on the wall paper and the bathtub was dirty. Nobody offered to help us move our things into another room, and only gave us key access for less than 5 minutes to pack and move our things. There was one bellman who was clearly over worked so we felt bad asking and just did it ourselves. Check in took over 30 minutes, as there was only one agent at the desk and quite a line.
The staff, however, were all very courteous, and the location was convenient to the quarter and central business district.
Our stay was during Mardi Gras and there was zero security in the lobby or at the doors- anyone could and did walk in off the street. Guests were not issued wristbands or any sort of way to identify they were hotel guests which we have had at other hotels in the quarter. This is definitely room for improvement for Sheraton.
