'Wasnt clear how to check in, but rung in the morning and was advised to call to pub for room card. The room was very clean, and well presented. Can see they are looked after. Nice walk in shower with 2 separate heads. Plenty of storage for clothes etc. Bed was very comfortable and made for a great night sleep. The food served at the Pen Y Cae was amazing and all the staff we encountered throughout our stay were helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much bother for them. '

'Way overpriced for what you get. Old reputation may be good but that must be years ago. Noisy room. No cleaning of rooms when you stay longer than 1 night. Old building. The staff tried to do their best but can not help the problems this hotel has.'

'Easy to access, parking can be a problem but you will always get in the Castle car park but involved a longer walk, best to drop your stuff off at the barrier outside the digs & then park up. Overall great accommodation would definitely stay again'

'The rooms at the Howfield were exactly as described in the photos. very comfortable bed, good hot shower with good flow and very clean. the housekeeping staff were polite, cheerful and helpful. communication and check in was completed efficiently via text messages with quick responses ( we asked for an early check in and the room was ready for us ) I would recommend this hotel and would stay here again '

'matig hotel, de hoogtijdagen lag zeker 15 jaar terug. Desondanks vriendelijk personeel, kamer ook netjes en schoon overig. Wel erg gedateerd. Ontbijt is prima, locatie erg goed, makkelijk met OV te bereiken.'

'Gelukkig maar één nacht verbleven in dit hotel. Niet gezellig, badkamer ruikt niet fris, oud decor, oud en beschadigd meubilair, flink gat in badkamer deur. Het ziet er niet echt schoon uit. Pluspunten: goede douche, en de bedden en handdoeken waren schoon. Het personeel was vriendelijk. Twee-persoons matras is hard. Eén-persoons bed is ok. Dunne kussens. Full English breakfast is ok. Zag daarnaast niet veel anders dan cereals, cornflakes e.d. In het geheel geen plezierig hotel om in te...

'This was such a find! Stayed one night with friends in a private room while we hiked in the Brecon Beacons and it was perfect for what we needed. Perks included - plenty of drying rooms (it rained the whole time we were there so this was very much needed!), restaurant and bar, cosy lounge with fire and board games, and a sink in the room. Easy to find, plenty of parking, and great location. If I'm in the area again I will definitely come back.'

'It was OK for a one night stay; the bed was squeeking every time we turned on it (did not sleep well because of it), there wasn't a curtain so the room was lit up from sun-up and it looked like there hadn't been vacuumed in a while. The breakfast was lovely though, and the folks running the place were friendly and accomodating. '

'I was going to visit the Brecon Mountain Railway and I needed somewhere close by to stay for the night. Luckily, I chose the Butchers Arms. The room was lovely and clean and the bed very comfortable. The food was filling and tasty and I had breakfast looking across to the start of the Brecon Beacons. The beer was wonderful especially the Butty Bach (little friend in Welsh). '

'We had a lovely weekend away at this Inn. The room was spacious. The bed was very comfortable. Nice thick curtains that kept out most of the light. Powerful shower. We had a couple of meals and the food was excellent. Breakfast was good. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a problem with our car and they let us stay longer in the room whilst we waited for the RAC. Would stay there again if I was in the area.'
