Welkom bij Stella Views, de naam van de villa staat simpelweg het beste voor de ware visuele uitzichten. De woning ligt zeer dicht bij Stella Maris Resort en Stella Maris luchthaven. De woning is net gebouwd volgens zeer moderne en hoge normen. De uitgestrekte begane grond heeft twee ensuite slaapkamers, een buitendouche met uitzicht op de Atlantische Oceaan. Een kleine slaapkamer en wasruimte.
De wenteltrap leidt naar de eerste verdieping en een zeer grote lounge, eet- en keukenhoek en bijkeuken. Er zijn nog twee slaapkamers met gedeelde badkamer. De lounge komt uit op een prachtig terras, privé zwembad en jacuzzi, fitnessruimte en apart toilet en kleedkamer.
De wenteltrap gaat door naar een klein kantoor en groot dakterras en de prachtige uitkijk torentje, waar het woord "whow" zo vaak is genoemd. Een geweldige plek om de zonsopkomst of zonsondergang met cocktails in de hand te zien.
Men kan Long Island ontdekken, dat is waarschijnlijk het mooiste eiland in de Bahama's. Simpel verblijf in de rust van de villa of verken het prachtige eiland en alles wat het te bieden heeft.
MEER OVER LONG ISLAND:
Long Island, gelegen in de zuidelijke Bahama's, is een van de vele eilanden en cays die deel uitmaken van de spectaculaire Bahamas Out-eilanden. Veel plaatsen claimen het paradijs te zijn, maar dat hangt echt af van je definitie. We definiëren het paradijs als mijl na mijl van een zijdeachtig fijn zandstrand helemaal voor jezelf, schitterend turkoois water, zacht wuivende palmen en het beste weer in het Caribisch gebied.
Long Island was een van de eerste landen die Columbus in 1492 ontdekte, en in het logboek van zijn schip beschreef hij het als "het mooiste eiland ter wereld". De oostkust heeft 150 voet kliffen met beukende branding, terwijl Kaap Santa Maria in het westen kilometers na een kilometer kalm blauw water en een wit zandstrand biedt. Zoals de naam al doet vermoeden, is Long Island meer dan 70 mijl lang en slechts vijf mijl breed. Weelderig groen gebladerte bedekt het eiland en vult de lucht met de bedwelmende geuren van het Caribisch gebied.
Een centrale weg loopt van noord naar zuid langs Long Island, omzoomd door de kleine dorpjes en prachtige koloniale kerken die de Bahama's zijn ongerepte gevoel geven. Met namen als Burnt Ground, Deadman's Cay, Bunchs, Doctor's Creek en Mangrove Bush bieden deze dorpen een glimp van de ontspannen levensstijl van de Bahama's.
Oorspronkelijk heette het "Yuma" door Arawak Indianen, het eiland werd in 1492 omgedoopt tot "Fernandina" door Christopher Columbus. Long Island kreeg echter zijn huidige naam omdat een zeevarende vond dat het te lang duurde om langs het eiland te zeilen. Het is tenslotte 80 mijl lang, maar niet meer dan vier mijl breed op het breedste punt. De Kreeftskeerkring loopt direct door het eiland, waardoor het twee zeer verschillende kustlijnen heeft - de dramatische kliffen en grotten van de oostkust die aan de voorkant van de brekende Atlantische golven liggen, en de zanderige, aan weerszijden gelegen lijzijde die kalm afloopt in de Bahamas Bank. Hier vind je Dean's Blue Hole, historische tweelingkerken gebouwd in de jaren 1800 en een van de grootste grotten van de Bahama's.

Om daar te komen;
VLUCHTEN NAAR STELLA MARIS VIA NASSAU (NAS):
Dit is de meest gebruikelijke route naar Long Island. Nassau International Airport is de belangrijkste luchthub voor de Bahama's met veel directe vluchten vanuit de VS, Canada en Londen. Belangrijke luchtvaartmaatschappijen zijn Jet Blue, American Airlines, Delta, United, Air Canada, British Airways, West Jet en Bahamasair. Bij aankomst in Nassau moet je de douane / immigratie opruimen en dan een korte vlucht naar Long Island maken met SoutherenAir (kosten ongeveer $ 130) of Stella Maris Resort Air Service kan je ook ophalen in Nassau en je rechtstreeks naar Stella Maris vliegen in een van hun resortvliegtuigen. Deze vlucht is buitengewoon mooi en duurt ongeveer 45 minuten. De kosten per persoon zijn ongeveer $ 167 per enkele reis. (Tarief onderhevig aan verandering in overeenstemming met brandstofprijzen) Stella Views is minder dan een mijl van de landingsbaan. Mijn property manager zal je begroeten op het vliegveld en je rechtstreeks naar de villa brengen.

My husband a I came for a week with two other couples. The house was wonderful for our needs. The owner, Bill and the house manager, Karin were great at communicating and made sure our stay was very comfortable. Karin met us at the airport and took us to the house and help to arrange a rental car for the week. We all had a great time and look forward to returning to Long Island in the future. I would definitely recommend this property.

This was our first booking that wasn't actually beach front and I was a little nervous. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, it meant that every day we took off for a different adventure. From the first time I looked at the property and had questions, Bill, the owner was amazing to work with, answered everything truthfully and promptly. The home itself is a beautiful home, huge and well equipped. It is a home on the outer islands of the Bahamas so it has a few things that need a little attention but as this is our 15th trip to these special islands, we are well aware of how things go. Absolutely nothing wrong that detracted from our amazing visit. Karin, the house manager went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and answer all questions we had. She stocked the fridge before we arrived with a list of things we needed. She was at the airport to greet us and show us to the house and explained all of the many features of this well equipped home. I needed an iron and one was promptly brought over. We don't usually return to houses more than once but will definitely return to Stella Views. Thank you Bill and Karin for an amazing 10 days on Long Island.

Seems to me the previous reviewer thought they had booked a Four Seasons in Hawaii instead of a house on a remote island. Our group booked this house with the intention of getting away to a beautiful island where we could ring in the new year along with a birthday and an engagement - while most importantly avoiding the crowds during a pandemic. The house, the hospitality, and the island experience was everything we needed and more. Supplies aren't always easy to come by on islands like this, so it didnt come as a surprise to find a few things out of order in the house. That said, it was more than comfortable for the 6 adults we had and it could have easily accommodated more. The outdoor shower on the lower master was incredibly refreshing. Top notch views from the rooftop for sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing. We didnt use the pool a ton because the beaches on Long Island are too good to pass up, but when we did it was revitalizing. We cant give enough praise to both Karin and Bill for the prompt communication we needed to coordinate this trip with constantly changing plans due to COVID. They went above and beyond taking care of our group and helping to arrange groceries, meals, rental cars, COVID tests, and anything else we asked last minute. Thank you Bill for opening your doors to us and huge thank you to Karin for hosting us on this picture perfect island! Look forward to coming back in the future when international travel is less stressful! Dave

This is a beautiful, 5 BR, multi-BA home with its own pool, large outdoor decks, workout room with treadmill and bike, nice furnishings and incredible views. The bedrooms are large and comfortable. The owner and his property manager were very cordial and helpful offering tips on things to do and places to go on Long Island. If you plan to dine out, be sure to go to Chez Pierre restaurant. It's killer. Overall, the home was a great place for our family of 6 adults and 4 kids that was just minutes from the Stella Maris airport and amazing beaches--particularly Cape Santa Maria just 20 minutes away. We thoroughly enjoyed out stay at this home...with minor exceptions. However, not all was 5 star. The home is beginning to suffer from lack of maintenance with clogged bathroom drains, two inside showers not functioning (had to use outdoor showers), toilets that did not refill properly and continued to run after flushing, causing the limited water capacity to be taxed, many light bulbs not working or missing entirely, AC units out of Freon and therefore not working and only one of the AC remote controllers with batteries making operation of the units a problem. The solar cover for the pool was pretty much trashed and a number of the chase lounge chairs were broken. The northside patios are beginning to suffer from black mold which will eventually damage the stone if ignored. However, the kitchen was well stocked with plates, silverware cups, bowls, etc. so eating in was great...it was only the grocery stores that were out a ways away with limited variety. Nevertheless, we never suffered from lack of food. Stella Views is a wonderfully designed home that provides great space for larger groups such as ours. My hope is that the owner will not neglect to properly maintain it, particularly when it comes to insuring ample water supply without having to take abbreviated showers and flush toilets only every other use or more. This is an amazing place that deserves more attention than it seems to be getting today. This may be temporary but it did feel as though the home was not getting the TLC it deserves. Having said that, I would still recommend this home.

This is the first time my wife and I have rented from VRBO. We have always stayed at Resort properties or Private Villas, managed by rental companies. The Bath and Beach towels were stained, and mutilple colors, so no bleach is used which we were very uneasy about. Also, the bed sheets in the Master Bedroom smelled musty, not freshly washed. My wife checked over the other multiple bedrooms, and found the same thing. Second, the toilet in our bedroom stopped working on day 2. I am pretty handy, and was able to fix it temporarily, then it broke again the next day. There are 2 outdoor showers that are useless. You can not enter from outside the house, so sand is tracked all through the house and up the stairs. Also, the hot tub was broken, and we were not made aware until we were taken around by the house manager. The pool was ice cold, not refreshing, we only went in twice. There was barely any salt and pepper, and my wife had to buy a 3 pound bag of sugar just to use 2 tsp for some tea. Why aren't there any sugar packets? No complimentary tea or coffee either? It's all these little inconveniences that overall led to 3 stars. We spent the majority of our time enjoying the island, and didn't spend alot of time in the house which may if been a good thing.

Stunning house with breathtaking views! We traveled with extended family and there was ample space for us to spread out. Multiple seating areas both inside and out. Dinning table easily seated eight. Kitchen was well equipped for meal preparation. Balconies and views on all levels. The turret is easily the highest point on this part of the island and offers 360 views of Long Island. Close to both Stela Maris and Cape Santa Maria resorts. Both are very friendly and open to non-resort guests to make use of their restaurants and activities. Nearby Cape Santa Maria beach is hands down the most stunning and best swimming beach in the Bahamas/Caribbean! We’ve been spending holidays on various islands each year for almost the last 10 years (St. Barths, St. Martin, St. Croix, St. Kits, St. Thomas, Nassau, Harbor Island...) and this was one of our favorite places to stay so far. If you’re looking to get away from the crowds without roughing it, this is your place. Great for larger groups and kids.

This house was absolutely beautiful with amazing views! Very spacious lay out and very well stocked. There are multiple outdoor spaces from which to take in the stunning ocean views. We kept forgetting about the two roof decks in addition to the great seating area/balcony right off the living room. The living room has two large seating areas. I would absolutely stay here again. The owner always replied quickly And was easy to work with. It was a great vacation!!

Stella Views is a beautiful home that is very new and clean. The home was accurately represented on the VRBO website, specifically: spacious rooms, open layout, large outdoor balconies, plenty of seating areas and stunning views of the Atlantic ocean. We enjoyed the morning and evening breezes coming off the Atlantic which made the balconies very comfortable. We drove the entire island and spent time on all of the major beaches, and couldn't believe how empty they were (often we were the only ones on the beach!). We'd highly recommend spending time at the Cape Santa Maria beach (about 15 minutes from Stella Views) which has a resort but the beach is open to the public, and the resort has a nice bar and restaurant. We charted a boat for a 1/2 day of reef fishing, and that was lots of fun. We also enjoyed the Columbus Monument as the views from the top of the bluff were amazing, and there is a small private beach near the parking area that has some great snorkeling. Long Island is pretty rural and as such lacks road infrastructure (side roads are in poor shape). It took a couple days to get used to this - but once we got our bearings we learned to appreciate the lifestyle on the island. Karin was a great help in picking us up from the airport, purchasing groceries in advance, and making recommendations (and reservations) for restaurants that we really enjoyed. Lastly, there is a great snorkeling spot (Coral Gardens) just 50 yards from Stella Views driveway. If you want to vacation in a large beautiful new home on a sparsely populated Bahamian island with empty beaches, then Stella Views is the place for you!

We took this trip to Long Island to trace our family roots, so it was very special with a long time planning in the works. We search the Internet many times and found a few resorts, until we decided to look into VRBO. When we came upon this property, we could not believe the pictures and amenities that came with it. We contacted the owner Bill through email and even though he is 12 hours ahead of our time he responded promptly. He was very accommodating and always responded to all of our questions and or concerns. He later put us in contact with his property manager Karin, and we were WOWED again with her. She went shopping for us prior to our arrival, so that when we arrived we will have the needed basic groceries. Water, bread, ice, eggs, and a few other items like COLD BEER. There were eight adults in our party and she picked us up from the airport, and gave us a tour of the house. Or should I say Palace. She told us about all the must-see places on the island and even arranged a fishing trip for us . Oh and I forgot to mention she lives next-door. She even came over the morning of our departure to see us off. I can’t thank Karin And Bill for making this family trip unforgettable.

Stella Views is a beautiful house. With views of water from every side, it is one of the best places to see beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The pool and hot tub were great spots to have coffee in the morning or relax after a day at the beach. Bill was great to work with and answered all questions we had. The house was well equipped with what we needed. If we head back to Long Island, we’ll be sure to stay at Stella Views!
