I've stayed at the Sofitel for 2 nights, after 4 weeks of vacation with my family. We had the double queen size bedroom. I've seen the critical comments before booking, but wanted to give the hotel te benefit of the doubt, especially given its brand new. But I have to conclude that the hotel isn't 5-star ready yet.
The good things include that it is in a excellent location, looks beautiful, and not of minor importants: the elevators (up to the 35th floor) have very little wait time, the rooms are (in my opinion) spacious and very well equipped.
But when you look up close, lots of stuff isn't yet excellent. Most noticeable the staff is under trained and too occupied with itself. Think of a baby cot we asked for, that never came.
At check-in I had to get someone to grab our luggage from the taxi, the check-in itself went smooth but the English of the host was sometimes hard to follow. The controls for lights and AC are super confusing, after two days, I still didn't understand how it worked. Shower and bathroom are spacious as well. To enter the outside pool area you have to find a way to unlock the sliding window doors. There is a lack sign of signs for these things. The pool is unheated, but a good size for a swim (with nice views). The breakfast has a confusing setup. Bread is in one corner, cheese a good 30 meter walk on the opposite. Coffee was average.
I would recommend for a pleasant experience in that location, but don't expect 10/10 service.
Con:: Our bed was made for the 2nd night, but there was a huge visible stain (coffee spill), and they didn't replace the linen, which they should have.
