Wonderful house!
We stayed for 3 nights over a Weekend in March, and even with iffy (cold, bit rainy) it was wonderful. House is exactly as shown in the pics - immaculate -- with unexpected beautiful views from not only the family room (with huge expanse of glass including out onto the patio) but also from the master and from the kitchen. The setting at the end of the street means you get both water and headline views, with nothing in between, and walk directly unto the headland trails. Big kitchen, big dining room, plenty of comfy beds and bathrooms for 10 people. Loved this, will plan to come back,.

Very nice but improvements needed
Our family gathering of five adults and three children had more than enough room and were very comfortable for our three nights. I won’t repeat what other reviews have said about the positive aspects, view and location; however, I feel that renters need to be aware that there are some issues in the property that would benefit from investment to improve the quality of the interior fabric. • The LED lighting in the kitchen and bathrooms is very dim and cold creating an uninviting atmosphere • Many of the windows are completely misted (view spoiler) between the panes and unable to be opened • The fireplace door does not completely close which creates a draft that accelerates burning. The fire is best with the door open once it lights but be aware that smoke will reverse into the room as the heat decreases. There is also a constant draft coming into the living room from the fireplace flue • The glass doors in the living room do not seal completely and very draughty with a strong southwest wind • The paintwork in places needs attention. For example, the sea facing front bedroom has a large area where the paint has peeled away around the window, most likely due to moisture • The patio table and chairs need a good sanding and oiling to remove the lichen and preserve the wood • If you want to plug your phone in by the bed, you may have to unplug the table lamp from the outlet Nevertheless, we were all extremely pleased with the property and would love to return same time next year.

To address your detailed comments, your stay was in January 2024 during Storm Isha, which to quote the papers that weekend “battered Cornwall with 100mph winds”. The living room windows have been re-sealed as part of our regular maintenance and we have responded to your other suggestions since your visit. The wood-burner is designed to have an adjustable air-flow to deliver steady heat as you described.

This is a well-equipped Cottage with good facilities. Location is great, right on the SW Coastal Path with 2 pubs on the Blue Flag sandy beach close-by.

Fantastic location
Perfect! Hired this place out for a get a way with friends before the Christmas break, we could not believe the size of the place for the price, incredibly reasonable. Gorgeous living room with an incredible sea view, really clean and tidy bedrooms with enough storage for clothes. Log burner made for a lovely cosy atmosphere. There were 9 of us so we were ready for dinner to be difficult, but there were plenty of glassware and kitchen equipment to cook with. Just a short walk down to the beach and local shop, it's peaceful without bring in the middle of nowhere. Thank you very much!!!

Stayed here for a few nights with friends. 10 of us altogether- plenty of space. The views are incredible here and the house is just a great house to chill in and have home cooked meals with friends! Would definitely stay here again!

Great family weekend away
10 of us stayed for a milestone birthday. The location was brilliant, as was the communication with the host of the property. Instructions for the parking and directions to the property were very helpful. The property had more than we thought would be available (salt, pepper, kitchen utensils etc). If we had to leave one bit of feedback which would have improved our stay further it would be regarding the check in and check out time. If we had only stayed for one night a 5pm check in and 9.30am check out would have put us off staying at the property. Overall, really pleased with our stay! Thank you!

We all had a fantastic stay, the views are breath taking, log fire was an added bonus on a couple of rainy cold nights, house was big enough for our party of 10, only down side the cooker takes for ages to cook food, bedroom upstairs window is very drafty, beautiful house just needs some TLC, local beach bars would highly recommend them

Fabulous views, comfortable rooms, family eating area, good kitchen, roomy snug Please add the correct name of the ‘beach house’ which is not the name in the house ‘address’ (maybe Cloud Hill?) and that it is at the end of the road. I’d also like a written set of instructions as to turning on heat, etc, plus check out instructions. Please double check wifi password instructions given on line vs correct instructions.

Nice house in a great location
Nice house, good size, but a bit dated and in need of some love. Well stocked and convenient kitchen. Lovely sitting area with views over the sea. Good sized bedrooms and comfy beds. Great to have so many bathrooms too. The heating was very efficient so never cold. But perhaps the thermostat was broken? Cleanliness was good but there were cobwebs on the ceiling and under sofa. Lots of woodlice around as well, especially upstairs. Deck furniture has seen better days. Check in process was easy, apart from the house name is different to the listing which was confusing. Overall, pretty good value for a lovely location.

Absolutely Beautiful
I have been dreaming about coming to Cornwall for 18 years. This trip and house did not disappoint. Stunning views of the ocean with many opportunities for even better views while walking the amazing coastal path. For Poldark fans there are a couple sites within walking distance, including one of the mines. The Blue Bar is within walking distance and serves great food with also amazing views. The house had everything we needed and was comfortable for our group. I just wish I had more time there. It was easy to find, accurately described and plenty of parking. Highly recommend it and I hope somehow, someday I can go back as well.

Lovely location. Spectacular views. Plenty of space.
We had a lovely time. The house is very accommodating for a larger group. It's a great location to see all the sights in Southern Cornwall and you can walk right out onto the Coastal Path from the front door. The views are terrific too. By the way, the router for WiFi is in the dining room. Don't use the one on the instructions -- it leads you to a link for paid WiFi that is terrible and expensive. All the information you need for the free and strong WiFi is on the router in the dining room. And bring your own shampoo.

Our second visit to this property, great location a few minutes from the beach and coast path. Sunny deck to watch the sunset and early morning surfers and good property layout with lots of space for bigger groups.. didnt want to come home.

Absolutely fabulous location. Good sized property for group gathering. 5 comfortable bedrooms, modern bathrooms and ensuites. Well equipped kitchen and thoughtful gestures such as milk in the fridge, tea coffee etc provisions lest you forgot your own. Amazing views of both beach and moorland. Great walks from the doorstep. The only confusion was the name of the house, its listed as beach house but the property sign says cloud hill or similar. We knew it was the correct property by the map that was available on the website even though that also said beach house! There is also a large garden area and decking which will be great for warmer days. I would stay again if needed.

Perfect location - needs updating
First of all the location is perfect excellent position for the view and access to the Cliff then the beach. The owner was efficient with his responses and very understanding. The bedrooms were lovely sizes and great bathrooms. For the beds the mattress would benefit from being renewed as they are very soft and seem very worn. The house was either freezing due to the draft from under the living room top windows, and fireplace and blown windows or boiling as having to have the heating on full blast as the radiators weren’t heating up the full property unless on full. This meant that the hallway and rooms coming off them were very hot - the back bedroom was warm until heating went off then was freezing and the living room was cold due to the constant draft. The patio doors were broken and we were told by someone who came to look at it to keep them locked. And the patio area and garden needs some TLC and is not fully enclosed for dogs. The flooring indoors could do with some TLC. Finally we think this property is very nice and has great potential with a bit of an update and TLC would be perfect

Chris, glad that you had a good stay. All the mattresses are checked and replaced regularly, and we have now renewed the one you mentioned. The patio doors are not opened during the winter, sorry that you had a problem with them, our window maintenance person did come the next day as you said, but the parts needed to fix the doors took a week (being so close to the sea means maintenance is frequent !).

Perfect weekend for NYE
The house was perfect, easily accommodated 6 adults, 3 toddlers and 3 dogs! Layout was great for kids and lots of bathrooms for everyone. Kitchen was well-equipped (we managed a roast one evening) and of course beautiful view and walks on the doorstep.

On arrival the outside was in poor condition with dirty steps and on entry the house had a damp smell, the house was in poor condition, bathrooms have been updated which were good and water pressure good, sofa in lounge had tears in and was supported by some red bricks, the outside did have lovely views but that was allot was not secure and paving was not safe for my elderly mum or grandchildren also I had to keep my dog on a lead as it was not enclosed at allow had to keep doors shut just in case the kids got out, the furniture outside needs replacing badly ,in general needs a lot of work and I would not returning fact if it would not have been 9 hours drive and all my family with me I would have left !

A very enjoyable stay
This couldn’t have been a better property for this year’s annual stay in Porthtowan. With such amazing weather we were able to take full advantage of the terrace and stunning view. Eating outside was a great pleasure and the location made Easy access to walks to Chapel Porth. The house itself provides luxury bedrooms and bathrooms which was greatly appreciated. A very enjoyable stay.

We had a fabulous family getaway at Beach Cottage to celebrate a landmark birthday. Our party of 8 thoroughly enjoyed a comfortable stay. And if ever anyone was missing, you could always find them standing admiring the view, particularly from the kitchen which is generously sized....and soon became a focal point.... I would highly recommend Beach Cottage for either a relaxing getaway with a mesmerising view, or as a base for exploring the delights of Cornwall 🥟

We had a lovely stay at Beach cottage aka Clouds Hill. Unfortunately, due to COVID we had to cut our holiday short. We made the most of it while there though. Plus side- bathroom facilities, excellent. Endless hot water. Cleanliness of bedding, excellent. Grass has been cut. View obviously sells it and was amazing. Negative side- sofa being propped up with bricks. BBQ being used as a giant ashtray, disappointing. We were looking forward to a BBQ.

An artist's dream of an amazing and constantly changing sea view
The property was ideal. It was clean and comfortable. We chose it for the view, which met our expectation. The property was warm and relaxing and well worth the price we paid. We would have liked a contact phone number for any unexpected situations. We were unaware of how to dispose of recyclable rubbish and even tried the village car park but no facilities available. If we had a contact phone number it would have helped. Also we found a puddle of water in one of the bathrooms which we could have reported if we had a number to ring. Porthtowan was not very appealing but there are plenty of other villages and towns near by to visit. The overall impression of the property was very good and we enjoyed our stay. The system of communication though is not user friendly and can be time consuming and sometimes frustrating in peoples very busy lives.

Can't keep away!
We love Porthtowan and Beach Cottage. This was our sixth visit and it really does feel like coming home. Yes, as with all properties on a clifftop subjected to all the atlantic weather can chuck at it, the house does have some areas which need a bit of a tidy up, and the few steps down to the entrance are 'challenging' with luggage in the dark ( the light comes on once you get to the last step!) but you dont come to a place like this to complain about windows dirty with sea spray or the fact the garden is a bit overgrown. It's the views, the comfy beds, the fire and the way the house comes alive if you are lucky enough to get a storm. We had a visit from Storm Barra whilst there and the wind raging around outside the house while we were warm and cosy inside was just bliss. Our locals are Blue and The Victory, both amazing places with great food. The staff at The Victory treat you like life long friends even if you have never visited before,and Blue has some of the best coffee and brownies around. Ignore the weeds & the minor niggles and just appreciate the stunning location of Beach Cottage.

Great property, clean and comfortable with amazing views. Plenty of space and facilities for our 3 couple group and more than adequate for a larger group. If walking down to Porthtowan its quite a climb back to the house but expected and a good start for a walk along the coastal path. Garden a little neglected and outside furniture needs refurbishing. Great place to stay

Wonderful sea views, hampered by overgrown garden shrubs. Beautifully warm and cosy with comfortable beds. However, the property felt tired and difficult to locate due to the sign on exterior being Cloud Hill (?) whereas we were searching for Beach Cottage! Patio area was dangerously slippery and garden furniture needs refurbishment or replacement as it was covered in “algae”. Well stocked with kitchen equipment, endless supply of hot water and good bathroom facilities. Exterior entrance poorly lit and overgrown. The sea views sell this letting for sure.

This property is extremely well sited with panoramic views of Porthtowan. The house is very well equipped with all the features required for a great stay. We went in mid Nov so having a really effective heating system is a big plus. All in all a great location and great stay.

The house is set in such a beautiful location the views from the lounge, kitchen and bedrooms are breath taking. Equipped with everything you need for a family holiday by the beach. Weather wasn’t great but didn’t spoil our break, house was very warm and cosy and the TV package was great for a particularly stormy night in. Location, location, location but needs TLC.
Six of us stayed at Beach Cottage (aka “Cloudshill”) in Sep-21 & had a lovely week in Cornwall. 5 stars for location: close to walking tracks & village, & great views of sea. Other positives include: good TV, lots of cutlery, crockery & glasses. Things that were not quite so good include: not big enough for advertised 10 people; fridge too small; very poor lighting, especially in bathrooms; shortage of shelf & hanging storage space; bedroom nearest front door felt a bit damp; outside needed tidying up; veranda, table & chairs need renovation (we wouldn’t have eaten on the table & the gallery pics must have been taken some years ago); no recycling - the sign on the bins said nearest recycling in main car park, but apparently this facility was removed many months ago (presumably to encourage landlords to pay for recycling provided by the council). We appreciate that the rental cost was reasonable & there are constraints due to the cottage layout etc, but we note that many of our comments have been made by others going back to 2019. We feel that some improvements for visitors could be made relatively easily with some TLC. This review is the consensus of six adults.

Family Staycation
Lovely property with fantastic views. High standard of cleanliness. Plenty of cooking utensils, crockery and cutlery for all of us (7 adults , 2 children and a baby). The decking and table could be better as they were weather worn but they were perfectly usable. We would go again.
