Very close to Dales Way for great walks directly from the property, also within a short walking distance of the town and lake, lots of options for cafe's pubs and restaurants. Really great base for South Lakes

Hello Raymond Thank you for your review. We are glad that you appreciated the view from your room as well as the cleanliness and peacefulness of our Victorian home and B&B. The hill that we are situated upon opens up onto open fell with gorgeous walks including The Dales Way, a long distance footpath between Bowness on Windermere and Ilkley. Our location is particularly fab for people walking this pretty trail as Blenheim Lodge is the first guest house off The Dales Way in Bowness on Windermere. Yes, our house is situated on top of a hill lane, but without being located where we are, you wouldn't have had the far-reaching Lake views that you enjoyed from your en-suite bedroom. In fact, all our rooms offer amazing views either of Lake Windermere and fells or of Brant Fell and its woodlands. Depending on how quickly one walks, that 3-5 minutes' walk along Brantfell Road from our B&B keeps Blenheim Lodge just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of Bowness centre, yet offers facilities and attractions practically on our doorstep. The hill protects us from noise, which means that guests who enjoy peace and quiet will enjoy the sound of silence when staying at Blenheim Lodge.

Good location if you don’t mind hills. Bowness is a very nice village and a cruise on Lake Windermere was very good with a stop off at lovely Ambleside.

The room was far to small. My wife and i mamed it the shoe box. Location good but the climb up the hill if you were impaired in any way was far to difficult. Should be mentioned in hotel location. Ovreall feeling wouldn't recommend.

Hello Rick, I am sorry that you found the room too small for yourself and your wife. However, we have no means of describing our rooms on Expedia - only tick boxes, and the photos which depict a small room with a nice walk-in shower en-suite, which I see you failed to mention. I did also tell you and your wife about the easier route uphill, but without the hill, you wouldn't have had the fabulous views of Lake Windermere and fells from your bedroom. Of course, you could also have driven your car or used a taxi to take you up and down hill. Again, there is no opportunity to mention this aspect of Blenheim Lodge on the Expedia site, but we did our best by putting up photos showing our hillside location, with the views looking DOWNWARDS of the house, thereby indicating the incline between the house and the centre of Bowness, where the Lake is. Please note that there isn't even a tick box to state that we are located on a hill, much less a hilltop. The road name is "Brantfell Road". In dictionaries, "Brant" means steep, and a fell is a hill or mountain. Thus, the steepness of the road is amply described already in its name. I am sorry that you felt it necessary to blame us for the road, when we have had no input into the building of it, nor the creation of the hill itself. The Lake District is full of hills and mountains, and we and many guests over the years love our location because it is peaceful and on the edge of walks onto open fell and viewpoints, yet the local amenities, activities, and Windermere's shores are only 5 minutes' walk from our door.

A great stay…
The whole experience was brilliant, within an hour of booking the owner contacted me to advise of the Covid restrictions in place and offered me to cancel with a full refund even know I booked with the no cancellation refund policy. We chose to continue as the Covid measures in place would not affect us and I’m glad we did. The check in process was quick and seamless and we soon had our bags in the room and then went to the village to get dinner…. The room was very clean and spacious with generous storage options. We met Janz, who gave us great options for places to eat and visit while we was there and was very helpful. Everything we needed was available and if it wasn’t you just had to ask. Fresh milk was available for tea which was a nice change to the long life options you normally get. The location was perfect. Parking in the town was a nightmare but with the location of the lodge, you could easily walk to the town centre, where there was bus stops talking you to other nearby places as well as the ferry. Janz even told us of a shortcut we could take which cut out the steep hill. We enjoyed our visit to the Lake District and if we ever decide to return then I’d definitely stay here again.

Nice stay in Bowness on Windermere
The lodge was nice and clean, tucked away from the main street up a bit of a hill. The room was good but we were disappointed to have not received breakfast due to covid. A substitute such as a fruit bowl or packaged cereal/croissants could easily have been provided to make up for it whilst still keeping covid measures.

Super views of the lake and great location!
Stayed on the Langdale room. We truly had the best and most panoramic view of the wonderful lake Windermere in all of our many stays in the Lakes. Lovely room and a lovely weekend. A pleasure staying at Blenheim and it was just a short walking distance to bars restaurants and shops. Very convenient and the hosts were pleasant and attentive to our needs

All our rooms have wonderful views of Lake Windermere and fells, except one which has pretty and tranquil fell views only. Our place is indeed located in a lovely spot with open fell and its trails and viewpoints to explore quite literally on our doorstep, as well as the convenience of local attractions, including Windermere itself and the Lake cruises as well as local amenities such as you've mentioned just minutes' walk away. We are very happy to read that you had a lovely weekend at our place. If I knew how to, I would post a smiley face!

Not the best place to stay .
Not for the faint hearted as there’s a big hill to climb to get to the property. Wasn’t told until we paid a non refundable full payment that they were sticking to the COVID rules, so on the advert there’s a lounge to sit in but it was locked so we weren’t allowed in there. The owners were friendly but seemed very disorganised . I’m sure on the booking it said with breakfast but was told there wasn’t any . £350 for two week day nights was way over the top for the room no 7 we stayed in that was very small extremely hot with no fan or air on in the room . Only served fresh milk in small jugs so had to keep asking for it , this was left outside the door . It really wasn’t the best place to stay for our 35 wedding anniversary. Wasn’t very private as owner parked his car on the hill just underneath our window so we couldn’t have the curtains open whilst in the room as it made us feel uncomfortable every time he went passed the window which was often .In all we were extremely dissatisfied and disappointed.Nice view of the lake by the front entrance.

Hello! It is difficult to please everyone. You arrived at 10:30 AM - morning - and our check in time is 4 pm. You then parked your car in our car park free of charge whereas you'd have had to PAY FOR PARKING had you parked in one of the local car parks. Why did you not mention this in your review? We immediately telephone and write to everyone who books accommodation at our house now and it was explained to you when your booking was received that we CANNOT open our lounge or dining room. The latter is our own which we used to share with guests, so the reason is obvious since we cannot have many people from different households sharing the same space at the same time for safety's sake. Regarding breakfast, you made a ROOM ONLY reservation. This is obvious on the booking confirmation that Expedia had sent you and you were aware of it when I rang to speak with you right after your booking came through. We do NOT offer breakfasts on Expedia bookings and haven't done so for years now. I also specifically tell all Expedia guests that their bookings are ROOM ONLY because this is the set up on Expedia, and would have said the same to you at the time I phoned you right after receiving your booking in our Inbox. (Please check this out on ALL our listings on Expedia.) Regarding fresh milk, we ask all our guests to let us know whenever they would like some. It's not good to leave milk outside the fridge in case it goes off. For this reason, we put jugs of milk outside the rooms when they are requested, rather than large full cartons. However, we would have been happy to put out larger amounts for you in a large jug had you requested it. We also ask guests to let us know if they require extras of anything else, and we would have delivered them to outside their rooms eg more teabags, for instance. When first speaking with you after your receiving your booking, I did tell you about our Covid Precautions and then I also sent the letter you received via email with respect to our precautionary protocols which you accepted. Whilst speaking on the phone, I explained that this is the way in which we are working in order to keep both our guests and ourselves safe. I then offered you FREE CANCELLATION if you didn't agree with our protocols and wished to cancel instead. You said that you were happy to keep your booking. Regarding our location, it is obvious from the photos and the description of our Lodge that it is on a hilltop: "Our hilltop B&B is secluded" is mentioned in the descriptive text. There is also a photo of the house taken from the back of the hill upon which we are located. Moreover, all the photos of the views from Blenheim Lodge display a perspective where the Lake is downwards of the house itself. It is worth noting that whilst you talk about the owner walking in the grounds of OUR OWN LAND that you did NOT mention once that he looked up to look at your windows. (It is an insult for you to imply that he would wish to look inside your room whilst

Lovely week’s stay. Very welcoming and accommodating owners, excellent views of Windermere and Bowness, clean and comfortable room. If you don’t have a car, the walk up can be a bit steep but it says so in the description- I had absolutely no problem with it; the location is excellent. If again in Bowness, I’ll be choosing it again for my stay!

It was absolutely an amazing stay in Lake district. The room was exactly the same as pictures shown in Hotels.com. The bed and mattress were just wonderful. Plus the Lake district view, I could totally relax my nerves in the room. Janz, the master of the lodge, was extremely helpful. She replied my every email clearly with fast response, which made me a smooth trip from the rail station to her place. I suggested guests asking her the phone number of the taxi driver whom she knows in advance. For dog lovers, you would see her Great dane if you are lucky!

Please avoid this property. The lady managing the lodge does a favor by letting people in and stay in her house. Her attitude and her list of rules, doesn't make you feel like you're on a holiday. Absurd check-in and check-out timing. There are just the two of them managing the property, which she mentions a dozen times during the stay along with her rules. Made such a big fuss over us checking out 1 hour late, after knowing my wife was pregnant, the property is on a steep hill and it was pouring heavily outside. Very fussy over breakfast timings. Overall the attitude was very unhospitable for us. We read the reviews and hoped to be welcomed by this lovely couple that the reviews mentioned, but it's hardly anything. We paid GBP 330 for it which is so not worth it.

Janz, owner of the B&B was super helpful. She reached out to us immediately post our booking and was all ready to give us good tips and help us with bookings. While we were there, she gave us lots of good tips on places to go and what to do. Breakfast was also nicely prepared for us. Overall a great experience and will stay there the next time we travel there.

Highly recommended.
This bed and breakfast is owned and run by a lovely couple who made us feel very welcome. The property is a beautiful Victorian property and is maintained to a high standard. We had a comfortable stay and enjoyable breakfast and would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to others. We will stay here again next time we visit The Lakes.

We couldnt open the windows even though a lovely wheather outside. Owner said they dont take the risk of people falling down, but we were both adults. Didint get why. It was just a simple request and she turned us down. I loved the place though. Amazing view from the bed and 4 post bed was so nice ! Great job about that bed.

Thank you for your review and giving us top marks for your stay at Blenheim Lodge. I am sorry that we could not open the specific windows you have alluded to as those triple floor to ceiling windows in the room you booked constitute almost one full wall of the room, and accommodation providers are bound by Health and Safety rules for the safety of their guests. However I am glad that you were able to open the single bay window from which - as with the triple bay windows in the room - are stunning views of Lake Windermere and the fells. Absolutely lovely. Very welcoming and amazing views of the lake and surrounding scenery. Close enough to the centre of Bowness, however just far enough away for peace and quiet. Janz was an amazing hostess, and was fast to respond to any questions prior to my arrival and was just as friendly during my stay. Will definitely be back.

Blenheim lodge is a excellent charming hotel, the owner Janz and her Husband kept the premise very clean n neat. Janz is very knowledgeable about the area and gave us good tips on where to go and where to eat in Lake District. I will like to go back again

Blenheim Lodge was perfect for my first trip to the Lake District. 5-10 mins walk outside of Bowness on Windermere means it is lovely and quiet. The hill is steep, and as others have said you’ll need to be in first gear to get your car up the lane. It is a perfectly manageable walk though for those physically able. Robert and Janz are warm hosts, and Janz could not have been more helpful - suggestions for where to eat, local walks and places of interest. I really felt relaxed and at home in their Lodge, which was important for me as a single traveller. I took advantage of a single ensuite room which was all I needed. I even had a view of the Lake which was unexpected. The pictures give a true impression of the rooms. I highly recommend and would definitely return. :)

Cosy and Clean
Lovely room inside a cosy and clean B and B. The husband and wife owners are extremely nice and accommodating. The lodge is located a short walk from Bowness on Windermere and within easy reach of the entire, beautiful lake district.

Blenheim Lodge
Me and my girlfriend went to the lakes for a weekend get away. Our stay at Blenheim Lodge was perfect, the couple that run the place were lovely and very talkative with us, they were both very helpful. The lodge itself was perfectly run, the room was very clean and well kept. We stayed in the attic room, where we had access to our own private bathroom, which was also kept very clean and tidy. We both had the full english breakfast each morning which was really nice and just what we needed before going out walking. Had a great stay there and would definitely recommend it.
