'A pretty hotel tucked away in a small alley in the old quarter. Typically Chinese. Rock hard beds and not very good shower pressure. Breakfast is very cheap with very little choice. No tea or coffee. Reception is friendly but little to no English. We stayed 2 nights and found a cheaper and much better place just outside the wall for the rest of our stay. Think that for $50 a night you can find better options!'

'The hotel is set in an ancient dwelling built around a courtyard. While our room retained its original ancient nature, it was clean and comfortable. The bathroom, on the other hand, was modern and there was no lacking hot water. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is located in a quiet side street in the middle of the ancient city just off of the major pedestrian street of Remin Road with its many eateries, shops and bars. 'For the big amount of money we have paid for the stay we are very disappointed. Your hotel is not in good order and no maintenance is done since it was built. The jacuzzi didn’t work, the kids club is dirty and many things are broken. Mini golf not working, air condition in the room not working. No one spoke a word English despite this is supposed to be a 5 star international hotel. '

'The heritage hotel is great, the hidden entrance will bring you inside the Ming dynasty court to discover this little gem. Is like a jump in the Emperial Time. The service is polite and welcoming, but they don't have an appropriate information material to give to the clients about the local tourist attractions and how to reach them, even they can rent you the hotel's bycicles. The rooms are great, we stay in a cozy suite, but without fridge and mirrors except in the bathroom.'

'A delightful boutique hotel right in the heart of the old city. The road to the hotel is pedestrianised with cobble stones, but the hotel sent a member of staff with a flatbed trolley to collect our luggage from the taxi drop-off point to the hotel. The rooms are comfortable with good facilities and the little courtyard area is delightful.'

'Although a bit rustic and somewhat hard to find, it is superbly situated inside the South Gate of Ancient Dali and a great value. It is very clean and comfortable, has what I would consider some Japanese touches, and where else can you sit in a modern bathtub gazing out the windows at the Himalayan foothills?'
