Nice quiet location on the canal
Property was clean and well appointed. There were 2 adults and we booked for 3 so we could have the whole apartment to ourselves and each with our own room. Small kitchen served us well for breakfasts and snacks. Bathrooms were stocked with soaps, shampoo, etc. Some reviewers have advised about the 2 steep staircase stairs. These were a bit curvy so the steps were not rectangles, but narrower at the curved part and wider (still shallow) at the outside wall. A handrail is installed on the wall side. A bit challenging for 75 yr old people nonetheless. The owner's daughter graciously and quickly handled moving our luggage up and down the stairs so we did not have to deal with that challenge. Beautiful views from both bedroom windows, one of the canal and one overlooking the gardens of all the homes. Restaurants, grocery, and a wine store just a short walk as well as the tram stop. Quiet location overlooking the canal made for restful nights.

Easy to get around town from there. Place was clean and the only thing I would say is if you have mobility issues this place may not be ideal. Stairs are steep. Owner responded promptly. I would stay there again 😊

Cosy and spacious
Since we stayed with two other adults we loved the general outlay of the apartment ( two separate bedrooms and bathrooms) Nice views from the bedrooms. We found many breakfast items in the kitchen, which was pretty convenient. Thank you Wessel again for that and for all the Information we received at our arrival. A very quiet and authentic neighbourhood! I can highly recommend!

Das Apartment liegt wunderbar mit direkter Aussicht auf die Gracht! Mit der Bahn waren wir in einer Viertelstunde direkt im Zentrum. Die Vermieter waren wunderbar rührend und haben sich um alles sofort gekümmert! Das Apartment ist super eingerichtet und sehr gemütlich. Wir haben uns von der ersten Minute an sehr wohl gefühlt! Vielen Dank lieber Wessel!

The Perfect Place to Stay for 4
We had a lovely time staying at Wessel's place! The rooms were very spacious and comfortable and Wessel was very kind and helpful. He walked us through everything we needed to know and provided many necessities in their bathrooms and kitchen. Their are very steep stairs in the home and Wessel's family kindly brought up all of our large bags for us. Our only complaint is that the twin beds slid around quite a bit, but were comfortable nonetheless! We would certainly stay again.

Beautiful views from the apartment. Easy access to public transportation to enjoy all Amsterdam has to offer. The neighborhood is quiet and family oriented. Local grocery stores are well stocked and the produce is great. The stairs are as steep as advertised, but Wessel graciously brought up the heaviest bag.

I had booked this property with two of my friends as we wanted a two bedroom and two bathroom. The home was very cozy, clean and welcoming. We were also close by to a grocery store, restaurants, shopping and various transportation. Our host was very friendly and checked in on us throughout to ensure our needs were met. Convenient location using public transportation
The location worked well for us and there were grocery stores and restaurants nearby. Transportation to the sites we chose to see was great. The stairs are steep. They were manageable for us, and the host gladly helped carry our luggage upstairs, but I don’t remember if this was mentioned in the listing.

Lovely accommodations
We rented both bedrooms, each with a bathroom. The rooms were spacious, the beds comfortable, the kitchen area clean and well stocked. The hosts are very attentive & quick to respond to our questions or needs. We were very close to a grocery store, wine shop, cheese shop, numerous restaurants and a tram stop.

Fabulous fortnight on the Transvaalkade
Our recent stay on the top floor of a home on the Transvaalkade was perfect. The host, Wessel, has set up a perfect, light-filled apartment with a glorious view over the canal which worked exceptionally well for my husband and I and our adult daughter. The two separate bathrooms, small but well laid out, were very convenient. The kitchen was well equipped and we were very grateful to have facilities to wash and dry our clothes. The beds were comfortable. The neighbourhood was delightful, we especially enjoyed the cafe on the other side of the canal for our evening drinks and also the large range of supermarkets nearby for us to purchase our supplies. Public transport worked brilliantly for all of our day trips including to the Kroller Moller near Apeldoorn, Haarlem and, of course, regular trips into Amsterdam Central, just a few minutes tram ride away. Wessel was kind and helpful and we greatly appreciated that he stayed up late to greet us and talk us through the apartment when we arrived. We hope to return in the near future, this time with our boys.

Fantastic location right on a picturesque canal, with easy access to many restaurants and transportation. The owner was easy to communicate with and welcoming; the flat itself is airy and comfortable, with two bathrooms, and a kitchen that's small but serviceable. We had no issues, and enjoyed our stay.

Fantastic property in a great location
My daughter is attending college in Amsterdam and we were there as a family to set up her dorm and do some sightseeing. Wessel is very attentive and a great help when we had questions. We loved the house and the neighborhood. Close to so many shops and good restaurants. We would definitely recommend this property to friends and family.

Great Locale on a Canal
Arrived late in the afternoon, the host and her family lives on the first floor and she met us and took us on a tour of the 3rd floor apartment. She walked us through the security system, the appliances and provided a binder of directions, transit info, restaurants and places to visit. Wonderful, accommodating and great location for outside the the central part of Amsterdam.

Wessel & family were wonderful hosts! They even brought our two larger suitcases up & down the stairs for us! We spent 4 nights at their property. It was a great location for using public transit. We were able to easily get to all the places we wished to visit. We highly recommend their property.

Un grand merci à Wessel qui a été un hôte génial. Accueil très chaleureux malgré l'heure tardive d'arrivée (merci encore!!). Il nous a même porté la valise jusqu'à l'appartement (2 étages dans un escalier TRÈS TRÈS RAIDE!!!!). L'appartement était très propre, parfaitement équipé et surtout magnifiquement situé : au bord d'un très joli canal, très calme avec toutes les commodités à 3mn à pieds (supermarché, centre commercial, restaurants, bars, tram...). Le spot parfait pour découvrir Amsterdam confortablement. Je recommande vivement Wessel et son appartement!

Logement impecable en bord d'un canal et proche des transports en commun et des commerces. Au dernier étage d'une maison ancienne, typique des Pays Bas. Pour ceux qui aime la marche, le centre et le quartier des musées sont accessibles en moins de trois quart d'heure. Notre hote a été très accueillant et prévenant.

Perfect location!
First visit Amsterdam and we fell in love with the city immediately! This property is in a great neighborhood with many choices of restaurants(The Cottage), easy-to-access transportation, and fewer people than central Amsterdam. The apartment has great views, safe, and comfortable, and is very well equipped. Several markets within a block or two. the hosts, Wessel & Helene were very accommodating! Looking forward to a return trip soon.

spacious flat in quiet and authentic district near centre
This flat was as lovely as the pictures showed, and the hosts kindly brought up our luggage, as the stairs are very very narrow (typical for Amsterdam). In the morning the only sounds from outside were bird song and ducks squabbling! We were well provided for in the kitchen, the coffee especially was delicious. Easy tram to the Dam.

A lovely quiet flat, a gem
In a great location with a view of a very quiet canal with occasional ducks swimming by, this flat is a gem. With two bedrooms each with its own attached bath, a well stocked galley kitchen, and ample space for relaxing, it was close to grocery (and other) shopping and to public transport. The hosts, Wessel and Hélène, were gracious and very kind and helpful. I would gladly stay there again on a future visit.

Die Aufteilung der Wohnung - zwei Schlafzimmer mit eigenem Bad und gut eingerichteter Küche - hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Auch die Lage in einem Wohnviertel mit kleinem Einkaufzentrum um die Ecke und guten Tram Verbindungen in die Innenstadt ist sehr angenehm.

Stairs !
My wife had a leg injury so we had to leave halfway onto our stay and find ground floor accoms or something with a lift because the stairs are typical Amsterdam...narrow, and lots of them to get to the 3rd floor where the rental is located. Bathrooms a little cramped,. Location was nice and quiet, but we found the 20 to 30 minutes it toolk to get to centrum by public transit a little wearing.

We have just returned from spending 5 days at this apartment and were very impressed with the accommodation and the location. The flat was spacious ,tastefully decorated,very clean and comfortable for the 2 of us with a very large room at the front with en suite bathroom plus settee ,table and 4 chairs plus a large bedroom at the back with ensuite bathroom plus a kitchen where we cooked meals. It is in a very quiet location overlooking a beautiful canal with local shops and an easy tram ride into the centre and Museum Square. Wessel and Helene were extremely helpful to us as 1st time visitors to Amsterdam and it was very reassuring to know they lived in the same house. They were the most helpful landlords I have experienced in my stays in other accomadation elsewhere with HomeAway.

Lovely, immaculate two bedroom apartment on a beautiful canal in a peaceful part of Amsterdam. The owners kindly let us check in early after an overnight flight from the US. The apartment has two roomy bedrooms each with its own private bathroom and a well-stocked kitchen. The neighborhood has numerous excellent restaurants and public transportation is easily accessible. Look forward to returning on future visits.

The owners are very helpful throughout our pre-book questions and accommodated our late night arrival without complaint (we did notify them ahead of time). The property was just as described and in a perfect location close to central Amsterdam, we walked back from the museums once (but usually used the trams). Easy access to eastern attractions as well as parking and public transit within three blocks.

Perfekt!
Wir hatten wundervolle Tage in Amsterdam und in der herrlichen Ferienwohnung direkt an einem ruhigen Kanal. Die steilen Amsterdamer Treppen waren für uns etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig, aber die Wohnung hätte nicht perfekter sein können: zwei Zimmer jeweils mit eigenem Bad und WC, eines mit Blick auf den Kanal und das lebhafte Vogeltreiben dort, eines mit Blick in den Garten auf wunderschöne Bäume und viel Grün. Alles Notwendige war vorhanden und alles war sehr sauber. Kommunikation und Einchecken waren freundlich und völlig problemlos (dass unsere Koffer vom Sohn des Hauses in die Wohnung gebracht wurden, wußten wir angesichts der schon erwähnten steilen Treppen sehr zu schätzen!). Die Wohnung ist vom Stadtzentrum aus sehr gut mit der Straßenbahn zu erreichen, Lokale und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten sind in der nahen Umgebung reichlich vorhanden. Das ebenfalls nicht unwichtige Tüpfelchen auf dem i war die schnelle und stabile WLAN-Verbindung :-) Wir können die Wohnung absolut empfehlen und bedanken uns bei der Familie Wessel für den angenehmen Aufenthalt und natürlich auch für die "Erstversorgung" mit Eiern, Butter, Kaffee etc. Das war eine zusätzliche schöne Überraschung.
