'Aroa Kainga is one of the best places we ever stayed at. The bungalow and the veranda offer plenty of space and the kitchen is perfectly equiped - you'll find everything you need if you wish to cook your own meals. 'We left this hotel early because it was so awful and lost NZ $2700 that never got refunded. Broken window that couldn't be closed, noisy from traffic and travellers coming and going, sofa beds uncomfortable and not made up with bed linen for our arrival late at night, generally runs down and neglected, owners unhelpful and not interested in our feedback.'

'When we arrived we thought we’d come to the wrong hotel. It was like rolling up to the entrance of an old western motel. A gritty, broken up driveway brought us to the main entrance which had a large plain pond with nothing in it - just an unloved body of water which must have, at one stage, had a welcoming water feature, I assume.
