Tired, old and boring
The hotel location is fine, but anywhere in Christchurch city will be close to everything there. I stayed in a 'club room' which was very ordinary and in need of some improvement.
Worst of all was the club lounge - terrible location and atmosphere, and a complete waste of money unless you're there only for the free evening drinks. The evening canapes were so ordinary and almost exactly the same every evening. The club floor breakfast was ridiculous - cereal, dried fruit, salami, cold ham and cold salmon. The rating of this hotel is way too high, and I would strongly recommend you look at cheaper, newer alternatives. So I had to pay another NZD$22 for a sensible breakfast in the main dining room, because unlike most decent hotel 'club floor rooms' this is not included as an option.
