'I almost hesitate to give this a five-star review, because I don’t want the secret to get out – this is the best place to stay in Houghton! Our son is a student at MTU, so we are in the area numerous times a year. We have stayed at various other properties (both Airbnb’s and other hotels), but Independence Stay has become our go-to spot. The property is always immaculately clean, modern, and well-maintained. The staff is friendly. The rooms are comfortable, with just enough kitchen supplies...

'The Cabin exceeded our every expectation. It was cozy, very clean, updated and very well decorated, great new bathroom. Heat worked quickly and efficiently. Kitchen was very well equipped. Everything was wonderful. We wished we had booked it for more than one night!!!'

'Great stay for reasonable rate! Our room was really nice for our family of 5. It was a unique layout with two queens and an extra bedroom with an additional queen bed. The extra room was so nice! The breakfast was great with many options. Nice pool area and very clean overall. The staff was wonderful and called us promptly when we left an item in the room after checking out and we were able to pick it up. We would definitely stay here again. '
