After driving around for an hour someone finally returned our call & messages and arranged to meet us. We had almost given up & were going to go home. 'This was hands down the friendliest hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff was extremely kind, helpful, and cheery. They made us feel at home and went above and beyond to accommodate us. The wait staff was exceptional as well. The food was excellent, the setting idyllic, and location walkable to The Chatsworth House! We could not wait to write a glowing review as we cannot recommend this hotel enough! We suggest you give your entire staff a raise as they were top notch and whoever hired them...

'Room was adequate, the heated towel rail was on the other side of the bedroom wall so the bedroom was uncomfortably hot, even at night - but the wife preferred this. The bed was quite firm and a good size. It was difficult to view the TV screen from the settee on the back wall. Tea (Yorkshire) and coffees were plentiful - not so much biscuits. Full English, plus cereals, juice, toast and tea/coffee refills welcome.'

'Helpful staff, clean rooms, meals were fab. However no aircon in the room made it very uncomfortable to sleep & there was quite a delay in getting food & it didn’t seem to be overly busy when we sat down to eat'

'Some challanges to find the location, but it was re-designed and looked very well. on monday the kitchen is closed which is a point because in the villages isn't much to eat. Eating is maybe not the strongest point, the continental breakfast was underneath the quality we suspected. I don't know which continent they are refering to but it looked Africa. '

'The parking was very good then we was taken to our room by a very friendly lady the room was spacious, fresh, very clean, and pleasing to the eye. The bed was very comfortable and big which we liked, the food is excellent and a good choice. We was very happy with this stay and we would be very pleased to return to this beautiful property again soon.'

While the property is exactly as advertised—a charming historic building with a pub downstairs—it feels more like a pub with a few guest rooms than a traditional hotel.
