'ruim opgezet hotel met nette kamers. Alles voorhanden en een heerlijk ruim zwembad. Twee restaurants waarvan wij de Chinese de beste vonden (en goed betaalbaar).
Enige nadeel van het hotel is dat het niet echt op loopafstand van het centrum is dus even een GRAB of taxi nodig.'

'It's a piece of luxury in an interesting place - don't let the exterior building fool you. You can be walking into another world in Sandakan and Hotel Sandakan is a sanctuary amongst it. The staff emulate the local Sabahan hospitality and friendliness, I will stay again next time.'

Nothing immediately local but frequent local buses which run til 8.30/9pm back take you to Sandakan centre (RMS .70) where you can get good selection of foods and drinks. Lots of shopping malls. Sepilok(Orangutans and Honeybears) Labuk(Proboscis monkeys) Australian war memorial and Heritage trail were good. Only waste of time and money was Gomantong Bat caves. 4hrs from Sandakan, my camera could not get anything due to it's great size and darkness. Maybe nighttime...

The staff here were very attentive and friendly. The room was adequate but the pillows were horrendous! Just lumpy lumps of hard sponge!
The shower and sink use a pump system which was not smooth at all and you either had a ‘power’ shower or a trickle.
