'lovely pub owned by the Lowther Estate. Stayed 3 nights while attending a wedding at Askham hall 6 minutes drive away. Food was well above usual pub food, and sourced from the Estate. Recently refubished. Walls a little thin and you could hear voices from room next door. Also no lift and original worn stone stairs to bedrooms, so may not be suitable for those with mobility issues. 'Room was spacious and clean. Breakfast did not start until 9am. Great location for the local town area.'

'The room was clean and the breakfast was good The only issue was the stairs to the room as our room was on the 3 floors there were a lot of stairs to climb and we both OAP which was very tiring. On the hold it was a good experience but we would not stay again due to the stairs.'

'Just spent 4 nights at the Brown Horse Inn. The staff were great. Food for breakfast and evening meal was excellent particularly the roast on Sunday. Great choice for breakfast. The Inn is very well placed to explore the South Lakes. Would happily recommend.'
