'Ik had de indruk dat het hotel inmiddels een ondergeschikte rol heeft gekregen t.o.v. de welness. Op zich een prima laatste verblijf voor inscheping Newcastle. Afstand tot de boot goed aan te rijden, echter wel rekening houden met traffic jam rondom Edinburgh. kamers een beetje oubollig, lampjes stuk, bad loopt niet goed door en dat is helemaal vervelend als je moet douchen in het bad. Hier en daar wordt alles wat sleets. Erg jong personeel dat wel zijn best doet, echter duidelijk (oudere)...

'The property was clean, quiet and comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised to find complimentary milk, bread, jam and tea at the property as well as a welcome note and small reference manual for our stay. Of particular note were the sunrise and sunset ocean views both from the property itself and on the half-mile walk from the property to the train station. If you take the train from Edinburgh to Kinghorn in the evening, you might catch the sunset over the bridge- Gorgeous! We had a lovely time...

'Ontzettend leuk accommodatie, de gastvrijheid krijgt een dikke 10, de gastvrouw is such a lovely and sweet woman, heel lekker en vers ontbijt. We hebben echt genoten het verblijf daar en ook in Leven!'

'Burntisland House is rather old, but well maintained. Room was clean and had a lot of space. Railway station is just a 5 minutes walk, with a direct train to Edinburgh. '

'Little did we know when we planned our stay that we would hit a bank holiday this weekend in Edinburgh. Possibly because of this, reasonably affordable rooms in the city center could not be found at all. A room at this hotel was still the most affordable. Previous reviews were often quite negative. Still, we opted for it for the cost. The carpet on the stairs was indeed quite worn and full of holes. The room was very basic, bed quite narrow for 2, bedding and towels were good. Bathroom OK. 'We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gilvenbank Hotel and would highly recommend it. There are plenty of well lit parking spaces and it is lovely and quiet. The staff are so friendly, helpful and very cheery, including the house cleaners, waitresses, receptionists and bar staff. We stayed in room 4 on the upper floor and loved it as it's very spacious, clean and has a comfy bed. Our breakfasts and meals at night were so tasty and we loved the large portions. There is a good variety to choose...

'De locatie ligt op loopafstand bij Leithstreet. Dit is een enorme winkelstraat in een multiculturele wijk. Er zijn eetgelegenheden uit alle hoeken van de wereld, verder zijn er enorm veel winkels en boetieken met een zeer gevarieerd aanbod. Dit alles geeft een erg bruisende en levendige sfeer weer waarmen zicht snel thuisvoelt. Verder is Leithstreet de toegangspoort tot Old town Princesstreet en The Royal Mile. Edinburgh is een adembenemende stad voor elk wat wils!!!!'
