'The room we had booked was clean, however the shower and onsen area are very dim at night. Given that it’s a sulphur based onsen, there was a bunch of calcification around the shower corners. We also found a stink bug and yen sized spider roaming in our room. It wasn’t the worst hotel we’ve stayed in Japan but certainly not the best either. My other family members stayed at Muse Beppu and had a much better experience'

'Nice clean and big room, 4 private baths, and delicious meals. You can choose your yukata so that it feels more personal. A great price for a ryokan in a secluded setting. Hosts were very welcoming as well. Please refer to their website if you have questions such as arranging their shuttle service. Highly recommended! I had a wonderful stay!'

'駐車場は思ってたよりも狭く、車が停まっていたら駐車しづらいかな？なので一度駐車したらなるべく後は車を使わずに近場で食事できるように予定をくんだ。 部屋に入ってからのタブレットの使い勝手がイマイチ分からなくて、戸惑いあったけど、カスタマーセンターに問い合わせたらすぐ対応してくれて、解決できたので良かったです。 2泊しましたが、夜も静かで快適に過ごせました。'

'The property is set in a perfect location of Yufuin, only a few minutes walk to the main streets/ Yufuin Floral village. The staff were very attentive and welcoming, and the property is charming and traditional. The private onsen was a nice touch! The only downside to the hotel is that it’s a little dated and the walls are paper thin. I would recommend ear plugs if a light sleeper! Also, we did not realise that everything in Yufuin closes at 5pm - only 3 restaurants were open in the whole town...

'The stay at KAI Beppu was nothing short of amazing. It was my first time in Beppu, and staying at KAI made the experience truly memorable. The sea-view shakkei was beautiful and definitely the highlight. The room was well-sized, and the indoor onsen was a godsend. The kaiseki meals were also delicious, and choosing the half-board option was a great decision. The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and always smiling. I would definitely come back and explore more KAI and Hoshino Resorts...
