Historische hotels in South Island

'Our room was very nice in many respects, luxurious even. Still we would not choose to stay here again, because the couple who manage the place showed very little flexibility and sense of service when they denied our request (that we put in after one day) to cut our stay at the hotel short from four to three nights. 'The room we were in, James Cook, was wonderful. Clean, well equipped, comfortable, with a lovely deck. It was also great to have breakfast provided each day. Steffan and Michelle are fantastic hosts. Warm, proactive, helpful, and fun. I highly, highly recommend this place.'

The host Dan showed us over his property and pointed us in the right direction for river walks nearby. We were sorry to only be there for the one night.'
