The bed had a broken spring and the coffee maker did not work. The staff I spoke too took the coffee maker to 'fix' it and returned it after we had left for the day. He agree the bed was broken, but management denied this,as there were lots of empty rooms the smart thing would have been to replace the coffee maker and bed or move us, apparently the management is not very smart.

The hotel is perfectly located within walking distance to shops, restaurants, theaters and water activities. The rooms are clean, unique and beautifully decorated and provide everything you could possibly need. All that is nice but without good service and friendly staff it means nothing and the staff and the service they provide is exceptional. I cannot say enough good things about our experience with them and will definitely be returning.

A quirky little building located in the heart of downtown Stratford. Walkable to all the downtown restaurants and shops and a doable walk to the Festival Theatre. No staff onsite which took some getting used to but service was excellent: all questions answered promptly. A bit of a noisy road but they provide earplugs (!) We found running the fan provided all the white noise we needed to sleep soundly. Recommended.

Impeccably clean and comfortable. Staff very welcoming and eager for us to enjoy our stay. From the outside it looks stern and a bit isolated but inside is cozy and warm. Relatively quiet considering the age of the hotel. We loved the atmoshere. We were only in the city overnight for a medical appt. and unable to explore much. We are encouraged to return just for fun. Being senior ladies, we dreaded the stairs while carrying a few bags but it was worth the effort. We recommend this hotel. Comparable to the Clock Tower Inn in Strathroy and the Kettle Creek Inn in Port Stanley. Downside: no dining or snacks available on-site so come prepared.

There is a large parking lot right beside the hotel, and owned by the hotel, that was mostly empty, yet they charge $20/night for parking. Free parking is available just down the street so the convenience of their parking lot is not worth the additional charge. I feel offering free on site parking would show better customer service. On the positive side, they did leave a small gift and note in our room for my birthday which was very kind.

Very conveniently located to town. Lots of local shops and boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Property was old but well maintained around. The only we didn't like was the outside noise. They provided ear plugs but that's the way to go about to dealing with outside noise. Perhaps they should look into sound proofing Windows. Checkin was simple _ I chose the in person check in over remote check in which requires guests to go to their sister property (only 1 mins drive away).

It was a quaint and cozy room. The size was perfect for me and my husband. We really enjoyed the small attention to detail, such as a bottle of water beside the bed, the Chai tea gift with a note for us to take, as well as having a coffee maker for the morning. It was easy to send messages with questions or concerns I had and overall, I felt like a valued guest even if i saw nobody in the lobby.

The Stratford Hotel is very quaint and welcoming. It felt like we were going back in time, in a good way. The staff were very attentive and friendly. The one suggestion I would recommend is letting us know what floor our room was on. The room numbering was a little off. That's it! The stay was great!

These people are deceitful - I never checked in as the hotel looked decrepit, isolated, etc. I managed to get a ride back to Toronto so I did not have to stay there and it looked so awful I did not want to spend a night there. You had to have special codes to access the hotel and then the room - no staff is on hand whatsover-I only found this out after I had booked the room. Here is a part of the email I just sent them: "Nowhere is any information posted on your Website about having to get special codes to open the front door of the hotel and then again another code to access the room in the Stratford hotel and that they had to be obtained from another hotel. I only found this out afterwards (and after the 7 day period before my arrival). That was very deceitful. The point is that If I had known this when I was considering what hotel to book I would never have booked it – I said that before in my October 23 email – see green highlight below. The hotel does not look secure, it looks isolated and decrepit with no activity (empty parking lot beside it). It also looked to be more than a five minute walk from the Windsor – more like 15 minutes."

The hotel overall is a motel - in its size, structure, and location on a major thoroughfare (with windows directly overlooking the sidewalk). The room itself was well done - very clean and warm and had everything that I needed. Location-wise, it was further off from the town centre than I expected - not to the point of being inconvenient, but if you can find a room in the Windsor (sister hotel) for the same price, you should do that - it is closer to the centre and overlooks a narrower street with far less car traffic. The customer service was incredible. The hotel operation was minimalist and efficient, but not at the cost of quality - the person at the front desk clearly remembered who I was the next day when I asked them to hold my bags for me after I left!

It was very hot in the room. Even though the gas fireplace was not on, it released some heat. We had to open both windows at night to let some air in and it was so noisy on the street even in the early hours of the night. At 4 am there were still some noisy vehicles going by. I am also annoyed that I paid in advance for 2 rooms, but I put one under my friends name. They had a medical emergency the night before so couldn't come. I was not able to get a refund as per Expedia and your hotel, but I got all the emails to Nancy as well as to me as the reservation was under me. I paid for both rooms but I wasn't given access to the second room. They would not give me the access code. I would have liked to have seen both rooms and decide which one I wanted since I paid for both. They would not give me access. How do I know that they did not resell the room, when I already paid for it. The room itself was nice and it was conveniently located to things, but I would try your sister hotel, the Windsor instead if I chose to use your services again. As for staff, we only saw a gentleman at our hotel as we were leaving. There was no staff otherwise that we saw.

The Hotel was generally OK, but surprising and disappointing. My first surprise AFTER I made and paid for my reservation was that this is “Stratford's first ‘invisible service’ boutique hotel”. The advantage is claimed to be that “guests may choose to self check-in entirely prior to arrival, thus avoiding lines at the front desk”. I chose not to check-in prior to my arrival because I did not wish to provide a copy of my identification via email. I checked in as directed at the Windsor Hotel, a sister hotel a short distance away. The clerk there was quite friendly and the check in went quickly and smoothly. When I did get to our hotel I found that the “invisible service” means there are no hotel representatives present in the hotel. When you walk in the registration desk is there, but there is no one at the desk. That causes a rather odd (and “creepy”) feeling, like the place is deserted. To add to the “creepy” environment the lobby contains 2 headless mannequins in colonial garb, one at each end of the lobby. All the while we were there, I only saw one other person (customer) in the hotel. I was also surprised and disappointed in the size of the “premium suite”. The suite was not very spacious and it did not contain the sofa bed that was reflected in the room description. The hotel is obviously old but the building appears to be generally well maintained but the carpet was in need of deep cleaning or replacement. There were also cobwebs on the ceiling fan.

A very positive experience.
The Bed was so comfortable. The room was spotless and has a fridge and coffee machine with a delicious selection of coffees and teas. The staff were immensely helpful and accommodating.

Although the check-in was at an adjacent property, we were over to the room in a couple of minutes. The staff knocked on the room door within 10 minutes to check and make sure we had everything we needed or any questions. The building and room had a lot of character. All the coffee shops and restaurants were no more than a 5-minute walk. We would absolutely stay at this location again.
