'Heel mooi hotel dicht bij het centrum van York. Makkelijk te belopen. 2 éénpersoonsbedden waren zo geregeld. Alleen het ontbijt is heelmerg duur en summier, slecht. Roerei gemaakt van poeder, weinig keuze maar we £20!! '

'Helaas werd ik rond middernacht wakkergebeld door de receptie. Daarna werd ik nogmaals rond 5u en daarna rond 5u30 wakker van een ritmisch luid gebons. Mijn collega die in de kamer naast me sliep had last van hetzelfde. Voor de rest was het ontbijt beetje teleurstellend, de lunch was wonderbaarlijk uitstekend. Het imposante en bombastisch hotel is helaas een beetje gedateerd.'

'The hotel is in a great location, high up, with great views of the Abbey and the town. There are steps up to the hotel from the town or you can walk up the road (Khyber Pass). There is limited onsite parking which needs to be booked in advance. Room 2 was clean and had a new carpet and bed. It was quite a large room with a sea view. At the time of our visit (Sept. 2025), there was a lot of noisy work being done on hotel improvements, but this will only improve the hotel for future guests. The...

'Very friendly staff '

'We stayed at The Grand last weekend for 2 nights and absolutely loved it. The location is fantastic, right next to the York wall and only a 5-minute walk into the town centre. The hotel staff were so welcoming, and the doormen in particular were incredibly friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. We parked in the NCP car park just around the corner, which was really convenient. Although the pool was closed for renovation (something we were aware of when booking), our stay was still perfect.
