The Capital Hotel has always been a favourite in the past, when visiting London. The Covid 19 restrictions has influenced one part in the lovely and classy hotel. The dress code seems to have been totally scrapped and sadly, some guests insult the history and delightful facilities, appearing in shorts, hanging shirts and sandals in the bar & restaurant areas, a fact that has
shocked us. After our first night's "experience" in the other wise pleasant bar where the service was excellent, we refrained from going to the bar or restaurant for the duration of our stay. We did inform the staff of our disappointment, as it seemed that the establishment allowed the presence of a person you might expect to see on a sea front, because he was a paying guest....????
We were not happy on check in as we were given an inferior, rear facing double room instead of the Capital Deluxe King or Queen we had paid for. On complaining, they managed to move us to the right room in the front of the hotel. We find this rather strange and if it was not that we new the hotel rooms from previous visits, we might have accepted what was given which would have spoiled our 3-night stay in London.
