Upon check-in room availability was limited and I was put in a room on the 5th floor for which the carpet was simply dirty and needed replacement. Little annoyed by a comment of one of the male receptionist but the other staff was very professional and secured me a room on a different floor with newer carpet etc. which was fine. 'DeBrett is a beautiful hotel, with a very original interior design. Location is perfect in downtown Auckland. Room was clean, service good. The free daily drink in the guest-only library room is a very nice feature and gives the hotel a home-like feeling. Complimentary continental breakfast is basic but good.
