Our location may seem remote, but we are just 2 minutes off the main Leeward Highway, 5 minutes to the Grace Bay tourist hub with the best supermarket on Provo, numerous restaurants and retail shops. 5 minutes to Blue Haven Marina for activities and 3 minutes to Walkin Marina for an exciting day trip to North and Middle Caicos. When you tire of lounging on the pool deck with what guests and locals alike say is the best view on Provo, you don’t have to drive far to enjoy everything Provo has to offer. And the exclusive “Johnson Guide to Provo” makes it very easy to get around. Hope you will return to see some of the new things we have planned for VK in 2024.

Thanks for writing the complimentary review and pointing out the abundant amenities (many more than other rentals in our price range), the view (best on Provo per visitors and locals alike), access to the sea (no sand but a large pea pebbled oasis with seating and a functional aluminum ladder designed by our local iron works) and the “Johnson Guide to Provo” (updated on a yearly basis, most recently November 2023). I’m happy that our guests enjoyed their stay at Villa Kendara and would like to come back. For the benefit of perspective guests, I’ll take this opportunity to comment on the directions and sleeping arrangement. VK is uniquely located on Upper Long Bay Beach, around the corner from the Upper Grace Bay Beaches, and 2 turns off the major highway. There are numerous roundabouts to negotiate from the airport to the first turn, and driving on the left can be confusing. The guesthouse is perfect for a couple. We can accommodate additional guests who sleep in the loft or the living room. Children love climbing the ladder to the loft and find the twin bed and fold up chair comfortable. The daybed in the living room is less comfortable but suffices. When guests indicate there will be more than 2 in their party, we always draw their attention to the sleeping arrangement and let them decide.

Our guest has given Villa Kendara a five star rating, which is much appreciated. I wish to explain a few of the comments in the review for the benefit of future guests. I will also take this opportunity to provide additional information not in the listing due to space limitations. ALARM – The technical expert for the company we used for many years passed away suddenly, which necessitated switching companies. The existing setup was not fully compatible with the new and caused erratic behavior. It took awhile to sort this out and complete the changeover. The alarm is now fully operational and may be used by those guests who choose to do so. SECURITY CAMERAS – Villa Kendara is all about the privacy and security of our guests. The property is fenced in with a wall and automatic sliding gate in front. We have an alarm system mentioned above. In addition, there are security cameras strategically aimed at the front entrance, the doors to the villa (not the guesthouse), and the area below the pool (not the pool). WATER PRESSURE – The Arrival Information states, “You are on an island. You may experience disruptions in service. If they do occur, have patience. Service generally returns in a short amount of time.” The disruptions are few and far between. Provo Water Company was upgrading the system in our area in April 2021. The work is now complete, and the pressure back to normal. SEA WALKWAY – The motto of the Turks and Caicos Islands is “Beautiful By Nature.” We believe in keeping the surroundings as natural as possible; hence, we worked with the terrain in front of the pool to create a short walkway to the sea. There are tastefully executed rock steps at the beginning and the end with a flat, but not completely smooth, ledge in-between. The walkway may be navigated with rubber flip-flops in a minute or two. PRIVACY – The villa and the guesthouse are oriented in such a way that each is very private one to the other, and each has it’s own view of the sea. The guesthouse has a private entrance, just steps away from the pool, which is located in the right hand corner of the property. When we are in residence and guests are at the pool, we seldom know they are there as we are always working around the property or running errands during the day. That said, we find that most guests are also out and about because Provo has many spectacular beaches to enjoy, sights to see and activities to engage in. ROAD CONDITIONS – Great House Close is a fairly long, unpaved dead end road close to the main highway. The surface is packed quarry, and yes, there are some rough spots. The majority of our guests rent small economy cars and find the road acceptable at slow speed. Guests rent an SUV when they have children, intend to do a lot of driving in the hinterlands or simply enjoy the comfort of a larger vehicle.
