'It was our third visit to Excellence El Carmen (End of May 2024). We love this brand and, specifically, this hotel. Pluses are the cleanness of rooms and property, friendly staff (especially Isaak at the front desk and Markos at the piano bar), excellent food with plenty of options, the beach being clean of seaweed (not like in Mexico), a lot of entertainment and activity options, and a very relaxing spa. Minuses: No more juice bar, which we always enjoyed, no drink servers at the buildings...

'The property is gorgeous. It is well maintained and very clean. The pools were relatively close to my room (2-3 min walk) and there was always people sunbathing. Not a lot of swimming happened during my stay. I frequently used the gym and surprisingly, it wasn’t packed with guests. There was always a cardio and weight machine available. Wij hebben 3 a la carte restaurants bezocht waaronder “ star rock cafe, “ mexicano” en “ frans restaurant”, enkel mexicaans was goed. Zee was te veel, je kan er wel in zwemmen maar echt veel( dit verschilt van week tot week), echt geen variatie in het eten en weinig keuze voor een volboekt hotel. 'Het inchecken vergt slechts een minimum van administratie en is in 1-2-3 tellen geregeld. Alle etenswaren en alcoholische dranken zijn van top-kwaliteit. Bijv in het buffet restaurant kan kreeft, king-crab legs zoveel als je wilt gegeten worden. Aan de bar zijn top whiskeys en rum bij de prijs inbegrepen. De suite die we hadden, was ruim en voorzien van een jacuzzi en een jungle-douche, de mini-bar was goed gevuld met een ruime keuze van drankjes.'

'We had a great experience. The coral level feels like a boutique hotel within a much larger hotel. Definitely appreciated the coral only dining options and pools / beach spaces - allowed for an air conditioned breakfast / lunch buffet which was nice when it was so hot out. There was also more space between the pool / beach chairs compared to the other areas of the hotel, and plenty of chairs available (in mid-May). It was worth the additional charge for coral level (for us at least). The food...
