'We had problems on 2 consecutive days with the safe in our room which was not functioning. Had to wait some time both mornings till an engineer came to fix since all our stuff was inside. We were not compensated, which would have been a nice gesture. All receptionists were a bit grumpy and not really focussed on giving the best service possible with a smile.

'The Charlie ranks at the top of the list of places in which we have stayed. I would describe our Dylan suite as cozy luxury. As soon as entered we immediately felt welcomed and at home! All rooms (bath, bedroom, living room and small kitchen) were immaculate. One of my criteria for a top-notch stay is the quality of the bed and bed linens and it passed with flying colors! Although the kitchen is tiny, it contained a stove, dishwasher and full-size fridge in case you wanted to cook.

'We arrived early and George was giving perfect service at valet parking. A pitty that at 4 pm the suite was still not ready for check in. Lady at reception was not so understanding/ service oriented. However, George was doing a great job with his bar tender at the rooftop bar. We had a great evening and perfect stay. The rooftop outlook is great. Room 351 is spacious, clean and comfortable for staying as a family of 4 with teenagers. '

"The 60's decor is what attracted me a couple of years ago when I first stayed at the Beverly Laurel hotel. In addition to that it is conveniently located near the Beverly Center and The Grove, perfect for people who enjoy walking. The front desk staff was friendly and they even recognized me from earlier trips! The only thing I missed was housekeeping every day... or maybe every other day... but there were plenty of towels and I keep a clean house and room, so I was okay otherwise. If you like excess and luxury this hotel is not for you.
