Great space rooms and good facilities like a pleasant swinging pool. We did eat in York before our arrival but the restaurant seems good, the breakfast there was excellent. 'We wanted an overnight stay on our way to the Lake District and found a perfect gem of a hotel. From the moment we arrived we were cared for by great staff. Our bedroom was a suite and just gorgeous. Dinner and breakfast were superb with plenty of choices. Wandering around the extensive beautifully manicured grounds we found the kitchen garden which is obviously used for a great deal of the food in the hotel. Just wished we could have stayed longer. '

'Stayed here on business and ticket all the right boxes. The room was a bit warm though, despite that the heat had dropped off these last few days. Nice bar area and nice selection of ales. The restaurant was in a real pretty setting. Easy parking in the vicinity of the hotel and they even had parking spaces in front of the rooms which are at the back of the property. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. '

'Always great when we stay at the little hide. We have been a few times just me and my fellas little getaway. Its our peace place with out the kiddies. Lovely and quite this time of year. Was on the cold side with the weather but the heater in the pod was amazeing at keeping you toastie. The only down fall for me was the magpie that seemd to haunt me whilst there hahaha. Really funny. The cafe food is excellent good price. Absolutely love this place.'

'We hebben een prima verblijf gehad bij B B. Het personeel is heel erg vriendelijk en het parkeren is goed geregeld. Lekker dichtbij het centrum ook. Het ontbijt is lekker. In de kamer waren er wat dingen verouderd: de deur piept en kraakt, er zaten (schimmel?)vlekken op het plafond en de matrassen waren niet erg stevig. Maar al met al waren we erg tevreden!'

'Needed a last-minute place to stay the night whilst I was at a weekend event in York. Had a pleasant experience parking and getting in, the shared toilets and shower were clean. The only issue was that one of the bunk beds had built-in lights and outlets that didn't work. I checked and they were plugged in and switched on at the wall, but there was no light, and the outlets wouldn't charge my phone. Would've been nice if there was a direct bus route between the hostel and the city centre as...

'Communications before during and after our stay was superb. Our room was spacious spotless and free from any other guest noise. The small treats in the room were a nice touch. The only slight issue was no shower gel in the bathroom so I had to use my wife’s. At least it made me smell sweet . Unfortunately due to our early start we didn’t have breakfast which did smell really nice. We are doing the York 10k event again and will stay here preferably room 14 '

'Such a quirky and unusual place. We had a 'spooky' wedding 2 years ago and it seemed fitting to celebrate our anniversary in such a witchy wonderland. We spotted something cool everytime we moved. The room was very comfortable and despite being close to a busy area you couldn't hear much when you were inside. Once you close the door to the main street the decor and sounds whisk you off to your own little magical bubble. We would highly recommend and definitely will be back!'

'Cannot rate the staff, this is a self service hotel, but it’s really easy, you’ll get a couple of codes the day of your stay. The hotel is right in the heart of the shambles, as a tourist that’s exactly the area where you want to be. The hotel is like nothing that you ever have experienced before, I can guarantee it. Without spoiling your experience I will tell you that my hard-to-please teenager was flabbergasted with the experience, he said it’s in his top 5 hotels in the world. '
