'After walking around the room in bare feet (after showering), we found our feet to be filthy. Apparently the floor had not been mopped between guests. Housekeeping came and mopped when we contacted them about it. We were also planning to use the sofa bed but it was literally just fabric over springs and thus unusable. It was also clear that it hadn’t been cleaned in awhile as it had hairs and food crumbs on the bedding that had probably fallen down through the couch cushions. On a positive note,...

'I'm going to start with the staff. I would give them 10 STARS if I could!! We needed a few things during our stay and they were there with them within minutes. Love that. The room was very clean upon arrival and it was perfect for what I was looking for. The only complaint that I would have is that the flooring needs some attention. 'There was a roach in the kitchen and small bugs in the bedrooms. We called to get it taken care of the night we found the bugs. They came the next day to spray our room. The location of the hotel and the hotel itself is very nice.'

'My experience at this hotel was awful,. The hotel has a responsibility to ensure that all essential facilities are properly maintained for the safety and convenience of its guests and employees. Having two non-operational elevators in a busy hotel is unacceptable and demonstrates a lack of adequate maintenance. This not only creates a significant inconvenience but also presents a potential safety hazard, particularly for guests with mobility challenges, families with children, and employees...

'The Carriage House Inn was a perfect place to stay while in Southport. It was in an excellent location, and the owners thought of everything you could possibly need. I highly recommend staying there!'

'Appreciated our balcony located nearest the water and view. Wonderful to have frig, coffee maker, and kitchen. Great for warming up leftovers for lunch. Decent storage - we were there for 4 nights so really "moved in." Walking distance to center of town - but pleasantly "off the beaten track." Staff were very nice as well. We didn't end up using the pool - but was clearly enjoyed by others.'

'The room was in great condition. The staff was all friendly and helpful. For us, the breakfast was the best we have ever had in a hotel as far what they offered and their staff kept it well stocked and cleaned up (because guests do not know how to simply clean up when serving themselves). We thought the Fairfield in Southport, NC did a great job overall and we enjoyed our stay. The only draw back to us was the parking lot was on the smaller side.'
