'The hotel is uphill with beautiful views of the mountains. The sunset was incredible. Be aware the road is unsealed the last kilometre and you need to WhatsApp message the hotel in advance of arrive for them to open the entry gate. Staff were very friendly and accomodating even though our Spanish is terrible. This is a boutique hotel with only 5 rooms and we had the place to ourselves. 'Fantastic stay at La Basilica Quito. Great location with good security, very friendly owners and staff. English spoken. Very clean and nice rooms, comfortable beds and bathroom with all amenities. Some of the rooms are located in-house, which makes them a bit stuffy due to lack of ventilation, but this is minor. Right in the hart of Old Quito at 5 minutes walk from historic square with cathedral, museums, presidential palace, and also the National Basilica. '
