Check-in was unnecessarily awful and, in hindsight, a sign of things to come. Eugenia told me to meet her friend at the apartment at 5pm. I arrived at 4:50 pm. There were at least six apartments listed outside and she hadn't given me further instructions so I waited for her friend to show up outside (I couldn't get inside). At 5:20 pm I messaged her that he was still not there; she said he actually was. That's when she (finally) told me to ring the bell for the apartment labeled "Forte". When I got up to the apartment, her friend was mad at me because I was "late"! I never received any acknowledgement or apology from Eugenia for her oversight and inconveniencing both me and her friend.
The shower had a lot of gross black mold you could both see and feel. When I asked for it to be cleaned, Eugenia said "Most people don't complain about it." !!! She had it cleaned the next day but complained to me it cost her 30 euros.
The shower wouldn't drain properly, filling up very quickly, until I opened the drain and cleaned out what amounted to a pony tail's worth of long hair. Disgusting!
I explicitly stated to Eugenia long before I arrived that I needed reliable wifi and she assured me the new fiber internet would be great. She neglected to mention the network is shared with another apartment and if anyone else is using it, your connection freezes up and is unusable. I had to let her know in advance when I really needed it to work so she could tell the others not to use it. That fixed the problem.
There are no instructions for how to use any of the appliances and Eugenia can't tell you if you ask.
One day I hired her cleaner to clean the apartment while I was away for a few days and Eugenia scolded me for leaving on the air. The air was technically "on", but had not blown any cold air for more than a week as it was getting colder. Where I come from, this does not waste energy, which I am conscious of. She never offered any instructions about her preferences for this or anything else, just reacted critically after the fact.
Anytime I asked for help with how to use something, she replied quickly but usually with something like "figure it out yourself" and seemed annoyed.
Eugenia doesn't live in Florence any more and seems very disinterested in the guest experience. There are many better places to stay in Florence for the same price I later discovered.
