'Stayed at Cabin Kai 4 (Dec 26–30, 2025). Affordable and located in a beautiful, peaceful area with free parking, water, and Wi-Fi (weak). Major concern: No window coverings for the floor-to-ceiling bathtub window or windows above the bed and coffee bar, resulting in serious privacy issues while bathing and sleeping. 'No A/C in the room. No elevator for a three story hotel. This hotel is very old and has a lot of homeless in the area. the room was clean and we did have a nice view. you hear the jet planes because you have to open the windows to keep the place cool. Nothing is really walking distance for food or shopping. Recommend Ken's pancake house for good local grinds! (3rd floor facing the pool)'

'Convenient to national park. Clean and Quiet location. More of a bed and breakfast style set up. Drive slow entering the property, can get bumpy. Ignore the purple key pad at entrance door, use e-keypad on door. Breakfast is granola bars and packaged pastries as stated. There is a breakfast and lunch deli just around the corner called lighthouse. '

'This was a very unique room to stay in (rm 6). The property is a little hard to find at night (off the beaten path) which also gives its secluded charm. check in and out was easy. the room had a big shower and a view of a pound. they had fresh fruits and home made banana pineapple bread along with Kau coffee. it was very close to the volcano entrance and right across the main road are several places to eat (I recommend going to Volcano's Lava Rock Cafe for good local grinds).'

'Incredibly good deal for the price. No elevator but my unit was a mini apartment with sofa bed, kitchenette stocked with utensils, cookware and real plates and glasses. Fridge/freezer was much larger than the under counter units in bigger chain hotels. There was even a washer/ dryer. Better than an Extended Stay in that regard. Hotel manager was easily accessible by phone to answer questions and deal with a complicated booking situation. Got it resolved quickly and extremely favorably. Parking...
