'Great pod hotel!
Some insight for Americans looking to try it out. It mostly caters to Asian / international clientele, which is where pod hotels originated. That being said, very welcoming.
The pod itself is in a gender segregated room. Each room has a door code so only those in your area can access. The privacy door in pod is a pull down screen, so you can hear anything from the other pods. That being said, my section was absolutely silent though all pods were occupied.

This is a beautiful hotel to stay at if you're visiting Hawai‘i Nei, especially in the Kapolei area. The front desk staff is friendly and courteous, making you feel welcome right away. The facilities are excellent — there's a nice swimming pool, well-equipped gym, and a convenient laundry room. 'Heavily overpriced for the quality you get (on food and beverages). Also paying for beach chairs etc. Hotel is nice and we enjoyed the installation but food and beverages were very basic while all charged on premium rates. Also very high fees to rent beach equipment which in my point of view is outrageous. We have much better experiences in Hawaii concerning that so definitively something to improve. No problem to pay a price but you expect something in return which we didn't feel at all. '

'We were extremely pleased with our stay in AC by Marriott Hotel Honolulu. The hotel is located in a very good location if you are going on a cruise. It was a 20 minutes walk to the pier 2 cruise terminal from hotel. The hotel was not in a congested area. It was a quiet hotel and we got a good nights sleep, The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner got the room cool. The area around hotel and the hotel itself was very clean. The staff was so friendly and helpful. '
'This a charming and beautiful old building. The individual rooms and common spaces are inviting, and sitting on the lanai with a view of Honolulu is wonderful! The owners provide a simple but filling breakfast and a coffee station and fridge near the sleeping quarters. All staff were welcoming and receptive to questions. If you’re looking for accommodation away from the Waikiki area, or near UH, this is a great choice. We would definitely stay here again! '
