'We really enjoyed our stay here, you WILL need to rent a car (ideally one with 4WD/AWD) to get around the island, so keep that in mind. The family that runs the place is super cool and helpful. The main drawbacks were the heat and the bugs. I don't think the heat would be as big a problem if we weren't staying in the Yurt and we're instead staying in one of the more airy tents. 'There were many great things about St John USVI, however: 1. You will absolutely need a 4 wheel drive vehicle. The grade leading to the Villa is about 40%. 2. 'A welcome relief after an unanticipated start, Avis (STT) gave our Jeep away. With our free-wheeling plans dashed, we had to use taxis. 'Happy Place was wonderful. The home is newer, nicely landscaped, and well appointed with Kitchen-Aid appliances and quality dish-ware. With the pull-out sofa, it worked well for our family of four. It’s a short drive to a nearby grocery, the ferry landing, and Cruz Bay shops and restaurants. Parking is ample for both units, which is a huge plus on the Island.
