'We stayed 2 nights, the first room had a lot of ants so we asked them to switch the room. The other room had also ants, the third room was okay so we decided to move the room. It was 2nd floor which is no elevator. They said no other room we can use elevator but I don’t think so. Definitely not busy time. The room is ocean front but it is partially ocean front view because of the big tree. I recommend to request upper floor. I don’t think this is not a perfect location to stay in Hilo...

'The room was the most poorly equipped condo we have ever stayed in. Very few kitchen utensils, tiny skillets, tiny coffee pot. No food storage bags or covered containers. Rusty freezer. The outside facilities were nice, clean pool and hot tub, nice gas grills. Not enough umbrellas for shade. Stayed in E3, below street level. Would not recommend.'

'Checkin very friendly, the park is super clean, parking easy. Apartment good with lot of extra's like dishwasher, washing machine, coffee etc. Close to the black beach. Although there is not much around the location (20-30min drive for a supermarket), thats not the worst. On the big island everything takes time to drive, so for a relaxing place, this hotel is recommended.'

'Wasn't able to use the hot tub or the "quiet pool." Rooms were outdated and mattress in our room were really old. Curtains needed to be cleaned bad and had stains all over them. Dresser smelled really bad, so I couldn't put my clothes in it. Kitchen, bathrooms, floors, windows were really clea. It was nice that the room had stuff to play in the pool, sand toys for kids, and sunblock. '

'Stayed at Cabin Kai 4 (Dec 26–30, 2025). Affordable and located in a beautiful, peaceful area with free parking, water, and Wi-Fi (weak). "Restaurants and location were great. Had to wait in a long line when my keycards were not working. Extended checkout time was not possible despite being a Hilton Gold member. Room was cleaned only once in three nights."

"Personeel was heelnaardig, locatie was prachtig, maar onze douche gaf alleen maar koud water. We hebben bij de front desk gevraagd of er iemand naar kon kijken. We waren die dag toch de hele dag op excursie (van 7 uur ‘s morgens tot 7 uur ‘s avonds). Echter toen we terug bij de kamer kwamen stond de deur gewoon open…. Terwijl er een kaartje in de kamer ligt ‘doe niet zomaar open als er aangeklopt wordt. Bel dan eerst de front desk of wij het wel zijn’. Ik was echtvin alle staten. Security is geweest en we denken niet dat er iets is gestolen, maar toch geen fijne ervaring. De volgende dag moesten we oo tijd ontbijten, koffer in pakken en uitchecken ivm onze vlucht naar het volgende eiland en bij de ontbijtlocatie aangekomen, mochten we even 45 min in de wacht. Sorry, er is een grote groep ineens binnen gekomen. Lijkt me toch dat die grote groep niet ineens uit de hoge hoed kwam, dus slechte planning. Maar goed prachtig resort, maar ik zal er niet meer komen."
