'It was late at night when we got to this VRBO. The instructions told us to walk down a path that would be lighten but it was completly pitch back and we were walking in the middle of a rainforest. Once we figured out where we were, we typed the code and got the key. We walk in and the place is a mess. Dirty sheets, dirty towels all over, food everywhere, clearly not ready for us to be there. We text the property owner and he thankfully responded quickly. He gave us the code to the other room....

'This is a beautiful, large house designed and constructed in the 1930s for a wealthy Hilo family. The main interiors are dark wood, with original custom bannisters and similar craftsmanship, and the furnishings are period-correct. The view from the common area where you can enjoy the healthy breakfast that Rick and Katy provide is peaceful. The veranda is a perfect place to watch the two goats playing in the yard.
