'Stayed here on business and ticket all the right boxes. The room was a bit warm though, despite that the heat had dropped off these last few days. Nice bar area and nice selection of ales. The restaurant was in a real pretty setting. Easy parking in the vicinity of the hotel and they even had parking spaces in front of the rooms which are at the back of the property. Excellent breakfast. Very friendly staff. '

'Location is the biggest plus. Breakfast is good but noise in our room was a little frustrating. Late night cleanup noise and early morning recycling pickup - perhaps louder than normal because we had to have the window open due to the temps and lack of a/c. The shower though was terrible. Water was slow to drain and we had to be very careful about water splashing and the handle of the sprayer was loose making that very challenging. I may look around more should we return to York.'

'Net (100 mtr) buiten het ommuurde centrum. Alle bezienswaardigheden goed te lopen. Gemoedelijke herberg,eenvoudig, netjes en schoon. Vriendelijk personeel. Engels ontbijt (scrambled eggs, spek, bonen e.d. ) dat op bestelling naar wens, vers wordt bereid. Daarnaast toast en jam en yoghurt e.d. Prima werkend gratis wifi. Wij hadden een ruime kamer aan de (vrij drukke) straatkant. De kamers liggen naast c.q. achter de bar - geen geluidsoverlast. Prima verblijf voor een weekendje York. '

'Booked here as a stopover on the way to Thoresby hall from Scotland as it was only a short drive off the motorway. We booked bed and breakfast at a very good price and we also had an evening meal. Both meals were great and the room even had an air con unit which was fantastic in the hot weather. The place was great value for money and we will certainly be back, can't thank the staff enough who were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Well done and we hope to be back soon.'

'Overall a lovely stay. Our room was large, clean & comfortable with a balcony overlooking the front garden area. Good to have a fridge in the hot weather. We also appreciated the USB ports & other amenities. Comfortable armchairs & a comfotable bed, although the bedding was a little excessive for the hot weather - easy to remove the top layer though. The lovely bathroom was also a good size with a seperate bath & shower. Our only frustration was the early morning traffic noise - we had to open...

'A lovely inn situated in a peaceful village but very handy for visiting the attractions within York and the North Yorkshire National park. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and our room was very clean and comfortable. We can recommend the food and drinks on offer in the air conditioned restaurant, both on the evening we stayed and for breakfast the following day. Top marks.'

'Authentic and rustic feel. Very conveniently located near to Bootham Bar. Parking included behind the hotel. Room was clean, but small. Breakfast was excellent.'
