'We enjoyed the relaxed feel and low key atmosphere here! Sad we never got to meet Arnott and were only able to stay one night, if we’re ever in Hilo again we’ll be back!'

'Beautiful location near Volcanoes National Park and Volcano Village. Quiet, rain-forest grounds with fiddleheads, ferns, anthurium on walking path to hot tub. I was traveling with my hula sister and we wanted to watch the Merrie Monarch Festival on TV. The television was old with poor reception. I tried to contact the host through VRBO but couldn't get through. Called the VRBO help line and they cut me off so we watched on my computer instead. Glad I had it with me! Otherwise a pleasant stay.'

'Very clean and simple room - quite nice. Expect the room to be super humid. There was a small dehumidifier, but it didn’t do much. The best was turning on the heater in the early morning to dry the air when the temp was cool enough. No message before arrival and no phone answer. Host responded to Vrbo messages within minutes though and gave me the information. I reserved the day before, so it could have been last minute. 'This is a beautiful, large house designed and constructed in the 1930s for a wealthy Hilo family. The main interiors are dark wood, with original custom bannisters and similar craftsmanship, and the furnishings are period-correct. The present owners have upgraded in various ways, including adding in-room air conditioning (we didn't need, but it was nice to have the option), retrofitted bathrooms, kitchen, wiring, and similar. 'Location and ocean view was FANTASTIC. While it's not a 5-star/ $1000 per night hotel, it has everything you would need/ expect from an excellent beach house. We were only a group of 2, but the house easily could accommodate 6 people. Great jumping off point to see sites on this side of the island (Hilo, Volcano, towns that existed a few years ago but then were taken by lava). 'This is a great place to stay! Walking distance to the beach! Beautiful View from the bedroom and lanai! Comfortable bed! Everything that you could need for cooking, snorkeling, and just enjoying your stay without having to drive anywhere if you don't want to! I would definitely stay here again!'
