'We can wholeheartedly recommend this house. It has a beautiful location and it is beautiful and very spacious. It is a little higher (last stretch of steep road) and a (rental) car is necessary to explore the region. There are beautiful villages to explore at a reasonable distance, this requires some travel time. But is very worthwhile! 'We were the first guests to stay at this beautiful home. It is out in the country, and has wonderful views of the countryside and old Rende. Our host, Rossana, met us at the house and showed us everything we needed to know. She speaks fluent Italian (which we do not) and English (which we do). 'Calabria is a province of hilltop villages and just outside San Vincenzo La Costa is this peaceful mountain refuge. The driveway is daunting at first but passable in any car and easy once you have done it. Host Claudia stocked the place with jam, bread and coffee and did everything to make me feel at home. There is great hiking from the house and even better a short drive away, and it easy to access all the wonders of Calabria in an hours drive in any direction. I cannot wait to come back.'
