'Staff is wonderful to say the least. Breakfast was authentic Japanese and delicious. We loved our stay; it was jmpeccable. The Ryokan is central to many things and right next to downtown Kyoto as well. Not far from the shoppng district and Nishiki Market! Highly recommended! '

'"A"... perhaps "the" classic ryokan. Relaxed (genuine) gracefullness that is not commercial or something you can teach. It is not a material luxury experience (there are many others who fit this expectation), so much as an unintentional unmannicured view into the past of old Kyoto. Very dreamy for me at least!. It felt like returning to my granny's house in post war Setayaga. Special. There are exceptional people among the staff whose heart beats echo mine and that era.'

'The semi sweet is a huge room!!! Staff goes above and beyond. The imperial palace is across the street, and the trains and buses are within a 6 minute walk. Make sure to bring a goshuin book with the amount of shrines. Only thing they don’t have is a washer and dry on property. But if you ask the front desk they can recommend one within a 10 min. Highly recommend. '
