Een rustig toevluchtsoord wacht op deze afgelegen hut met 2 slaapkamers + loft, 1 badkamer en 6 slaapplaatsen in Alger, Michigan. Dit houten huis aan de rivier ligt op slechts 2 uur ten noorden van Detroit en biedt toegang tot een sportvijver, duizenden hectares staatsbos, een pooltafel, een patio, een vuurplaats buiten en nog veel meer! Of het nu gaat om vissen, golfen, kanoën en ATV in de zomer, jagen in de herfst, of sneeuwscooteren in de winter, de hut kan u een spannende vakantie aanbieden om nooit te vergeten.

Begin elke ochtend met het kanoën op het water voor een ontspannen begin van de dag. Brouw een vers kopje koffie met de Keurig en wacht tot de rest van je groep wakker wordt terwijl je buiten op het terras zit en de frisse boslucht inademt.

Tijdens downtime biedt het huis een overvloed aan activiteiten om u te vermaken. Geniet van het kijken van shows op de flatscreen-satelliettelevisie, films kijken met de dvd-speler of biljart spelen in de recreatieruimte. Rijd ze op en daag een metgezel uit voor een spelletje pool!

Terwijl het avondeten rondrent, kunt u een huisgemaakt feestmaal bereiden in de volledig uitgeruste keuken. De ruimte heeft genoeg ruimte voor de chef van de groep en andere helpende handen om zich gemakkelijk te verplaatsen.

Ontspan en chat met vrienden en familie, voel de warmte van de open haard, terwijl u van maaltijden geniet aan de elegante eettafel voor 10 personen. Een muur van ramen biedt een uitzonderlijk uitzicht op de rivier.

Als je klaar bent voor een toetje, ga dan naar buiten om marshmallows rond de vuurplaats te roosteren en kijk wie de perfecte s'more kan maken. De maan en de sterrenhemel zullen dienen als de perfecte verlichting om je terug naar binnen te leiden nadat het vuur is uitgestorven.

Nadat je de vermoeide tykes hebt weggestopt in een van de twee aparte bedden op de zolder, neem je troost in de master suite of de tweede slaapkamer.

Great Place for Seclusion, Not Great for Recreational Lake Usage.

We stayed here for a friend's birthday weekend. We LOVED how big and open the property and home was. It allowed a great amount of room for group meals, playing pool, baking, cooking, and hanging out in general. Super nice for the rainy days we encountered! When it wasn't raining, we were able to enjoy the fire by the water, fishing, and canoeing. I even was able to run the dirt road for 2 mile runs in the morning. They've got plenty of pots and pans, a coffee pot, and a skillet, making all of our meals easy going! When we first entered the house, the light switches were a tad tricky to figure out, and could be better if labeled. The toilet flush is also comically close to the wall, making it hard to flush. Water pressure for the shower is PHENOMANAL. They could bare to add an additional half bath. With 5 people staying, there were a few times potty breaks overlapped. It was dog friendly and out dalmatian loved hanging out and exploring the property! We were a bit disappointed in the "boat access" that was advertised. It is far down the branch and past a vat of state land. It's not well traveresed waters, so there is a bunch of sea weed, lily pads, stums, and muck. It's a great area for canoeing and kayaking! But, sadly, a speed boat/pontoon/jet ski would not travel well down here. My dad traveled from his place on the lake to the cabin and although he was able to make it there, it was not an easy feat and wasn't worth it for us to have cruises on the pontoon. This was a bit disappointing for us. Overall a great experience! I don't know that we'd come back secondary to the limited recreational lake access. However, if you like seclusion , fires by the water, and wide open spaces, this is the place for you!

Gem in the woods

My boyfriend and I plus our two dogs loved this place. Very remote and peaceful. Great for the dogs to run around and go for a swim. We brought a trolling motor and attached it to the canoe to scoot up the river quicker. We saw deer, turtles water snakes, blue herons/jays .. only caught a baby perch (we tried). Lot's of nature - would love to see this place in the fall. Only negative - no BBQ/bathtub didn't drain well. Very small things in comparison to the fun we had - would return. Thanks!!

Family retreat

We love Miller Sanctuary. It's just what we need to get away for a bit of relaxation. The only downfall was that it seemed a bit dirty when we got there. But we rolled up our sleeves and spruced the place back up, no problem. Thanks for another lovely and memorable time, Ginger!

Could have been better...

We wouldn't chose to stay here again. Upon our arrival, WiFi and TV weren't working. The owner facilitated getting the WiFi up and running (with the aid of a 3-way call with internet service provider). My husband is handy with electronics and found the bad cord and switched it out for TV. Cleaning crew (?) dumped dirt from vacuum bag across from front door and left it there. The tub should be replaced and the drains should be snaked out. Water backs up fast when you take showers and do dishes. The exterior should be power washed. Most of the carpet should be removed. We washed several window sills (lots of dirt and dead bugs). We had two weeks at property and wanted it to be clean. Without being overly critical, it wasn't very inviting. We do have some expectation of cleanliness, as we have rented our property out in Florida and are keen on having everything running properly and the the house be very clean. The spot was pretty, we enjoyed taking the canoe out. We saw lots of wildlife (geese, turkeys, deer).

Great place for family vacation!

We had a wonderful time at this place. House is very clean and well maintained. It was a perfect weekend getaway considering proximity to south east Detroit. Millers are very prompt in responding to all of our questions during our stay. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a quite family getaway.

Perfect for families whether outdoors or indoors!

Our stay at Miller Sanctuary was relaxing and we enjoyed every minute of it (even when my husband tipped out of the canoe while fishing 🛶😎). The cottage is beautiful on the inside and has a lovely setting among birch and pine trees. Very quiet and peaceful. The loft area is charming and has two twin beds. There is a Queen bedroom off from the full kitchen along with a King master bedroom on the main floor. All decorated lovely. The main sitting and dining area have a wall of windows facing the water. The entertainment room is very roomy and has a Dish TV along with DVD’s. This is also where you will find the pool table. The cottage along with the dock, pontoon, canoe, patio and fire pit by the lake can keep you entertained for quite some time. There are three window air conditioners throughput the home along with a ceiling fan in the main sitting area and these can keep the home cool on hot days easily. The woodwork is stunning and the brick fireplace is beautiful. We decided to take our two teenage daughters with us for a long Father’s Day weekend and hated to leave. The owners, Ginger and Joe Miller, made sure that we had everything we could need and then some. I would highly recommend staying at Miller Sanctuary at least once and I am sure you will want to return again and again! Thank you again Ginger and Joe for letting us stay and get a little idea of what kind of happy place this truly is. 💜. Oh! I almost forgot to say that this cottage is pet friendly (we brought or lab with us). There is also some nature to be seen as we spotted many deer nearby and one fawn across the river that was especially beautiful. 💛

Beautiful spacious Cabin

The Cabin was beautiful inside! We loved the pool table, the master bed was so comfortable and elegant. We went with another couple and they thought the cabin was very nice. We went out on the lake in our friends boat. Due to the fact that the water level down the channel was low we couldn't drive the boat to the dock and park. That was a little frustrating, but overall we had so much fun on Secord Lake! The mosquitoes are definitely thick so we didn't end up having a fire. We really enjoyed the Cabin and the Lake!!!

Lovely sanctuary in the woods!

This was our first family getaway for our combined family of 8. Two adults, six kids (and two dogs). This place absolutely lived up to what we were hoping. Though the drive down the dirt roads was a bit treacherous for a car and we were wondering what we were getting ourselves into since the surrounding homes were very "rustic". But once we reached the paved circle drive of the Miller Sanctuary all of our hesitation went right out the door. The layout is ideal for a large family or group. The open concept in the dining/living room is only enhanced by the vaulted ceiling. We loved the "pool room" as the kids nicknamed it. The billiards table (bar box=7 ft) was used every single day. Lots of light throughout and very nice cross-breeze with all of the windows on those days where it didn't get too warm outside to have the air conditioning on. We were there from July 31-August 6. Plenty of storage for food and I really didn't mind washing the dishes but yes, a dishwasher would have been heavenly. Washer and dryer is a bit small for all of the clothes we had to wash but we were very thankful to have these on-site. I was the only one who had consistent phone reception (VERIZON). Everyone else had to go to the dirt road or even into town before theirs was accessible. Plenty of nature all around, which I loved. We fished, went on the pontoon (a bit small for our family size) and canoed several times. SO MUCH FUN! Overall a very positive experience for each of us. This place was such a great getaway for us to really sit down and talk, laugh, argue and listen to what the other had to say. Thank you so much Miller Family for allowing us in your sanctuary. -Scott, Holly, Seth, Chase, Raeden, Hudson, Wyatt and Walker (also Domino and Lucy too)

Wonderful!

We had an amazing stay. It was refreshing, quiet, pleasant and we defiantly wanna come back next year. We didn't wanna leave. The pontoon rides was very enjoyable and we loved the scenery, part nature and then to go through the tunnel and see all the cottages.

Very enjoyable stay!!

Beautiful house in a secluded spot made for a very relaxing experience. Caught some nice bass off the dock in the mornings and all the wildlife in the area is amazing. The mosquitoes were brutal but not surprising due to the location on the river. Overall, a very positive experience and we would definitely rent this property again. One suggestion: add a few more lights in the house if possible. The inside of the house is too dark in most places. Thank you!!!

Love this place

This is the fourth time in 7 years that our family has spent time at this house/cabin. Though the pontoon wasn't ready for our stay, the Millers went out of their way to be accommodating. We will most likely be coming up again next year. BTW to all other renters - respect the pontoon that is how us robust fishermen make our way through that river/lake!

Great place to get away

We had the opportunity to bring our two teenage daughters and four of their friends for a weekend. This was really the perfect place to get away! There is plenty of room to spread out and I think the teens really liked having different options of where to lounge and hang out together. I especially enjoyed that the dining table was big enough for all of us to eat together. The kitchen is really big - we cooked for all of the meals (except one dinner at The Camp restaurant) and we grilled one night and we had all of the pots/pans/utensils/dishes we needed for everything. We played board games, watched movies, had a bonfire, the kids went canoeing, played pool, etc. It was very clean, spacious and had everything we needed. We took an afternoon trip to the outlet mall which was just a short drive away. We had quite a few questions prior to our stay which were answered right away. I appreciated the communication with our hosts. We would definitely stay here again and would absolutely recommend this property to any family looking for a easy and relaxing get away.

Perfect!

Our group was looking for a last minute winter getaway where we could bring our dogs. We were so happy when Ginger replied to our request so quickly. She made our whole experience run smoothly. The house is exactly what we were looking for, so cozy with everything we needed. Loved the large table space right by the fireplace, perfect for board games! Would definitely recommend and looking forward to staying again in the future.

The house is beautiful!!!!! Even the grounds are very nice. But the water in the house smelled so bad none of us could handle taking a shower. The water in the lake was not clean enough to go swimming in.

Beautiful Family Vacation Spot

Loved staying in your beautiful home, thank you Miller family. My family loved having so much room! The great room was wonderful, I loved the view of the river and we enjoyed eating our meals around a table that was large enough to seat everyone! The bedrooms were very nice. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. The pool table was a big hit with our boys and they had a great time on the river in the pontoon boat. We brought along our quads and enjoyed some trail riding as well. We had a great time at the Bon fire pit in the evenings. This is a great place for a family with lots of room and many fun activities. Ginger made our arrangements and emailed every detail. Thank you again for the use of your home. Perfect for a nice relaxing vacation: Pros House is beautiful and spacious. Beds are very comfortable. Pool table and Dart boards were a very nice touch. Backyard and dock very private and big enough for a group of 8. Firepit situated in an ideal spot. Canoe and Boat were used extensively to explore the river. Accessories were outstanding (TV, Gas Grill, Kitchen and Bedding supplies). Cons The only thing I can think of was that the river was shallow and didn't include a beach. This was no surprise to us as it was advertised and by no means did it prevent us from doing anything. We have every intention of reserving again in the future for that 2-3 day relaxing vacation.
