A lovely cottage!

The cottage was very comfortable. It had everything we needed to make ourselves at home. The location was central to all the places we visited. We enjoyed our daily drives through the countryside and having a relaxing place to stay when we returned each evening. On our final day, we enjoyed touring the local area and found that there was plenty to do in or near Mountshannon. It was nice taking a break from driving. The hosts were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately we had to leave a day early because of limited flights back to the States. We hope to visit again soon!

Accueil et logement parfaits !

Nous avons été accueillis très cordialement par James, le propriétaire. Le logement est propre, simple et bien agencé : Grande cuisine/salon/salle à manger + chambre + salle de bain/WC. L'endroit est très calme, une impasse en campagne, arrivant au bord d'un lac. La position centrale de ce gîte nous a permis de visiter plusieurs régions d'Irlande, dont le Connemara, (fabuleux).

perfect place to relax and recharge

Stayed at the cottage for 8 days, 50/50 working and enjoying life in the country. James was super helpful in all things - including letting me to use his bike (I was without a car) and giving me a lift to Ennis when I wanted to visit Doolin and the cliffs. Holy Island with its ancient remains of a monastery is a must see - the place is pretty much sacred and it feels that way. You can get a boat ride to and from the island from Mountshannon. There is a nice pub in the village with friendly hosts and patrons and a small bakery/grocery store. The cottage itself is well equipped with everything. The only issue I had was with wifi - in general it worked, but the connection wasn't continuous - it would break every so often for a minute or two, then resume. OK for casual browsing, but might be problematic if trying to use video conferences and such. Still was able to use it for work. Very happy with the stay.

Home comforts in magical setting

I loved how this cottage allowed us to be so comfortable. It was a home away from home. The location is magical, especially for very young, who could walk in countryside and swim in the lake. We had a perfect holiday here.

Kleines Haus mit guter Lage

Sehr freundlicher hilfreicher Vermieter. Hatte viele gute Tipps für uns. Schade war die Sauberkeit der Küche. Hier mussten wir erstmal Geschirr abwaschen. Die Küchenmöbel und der Backofen waren völlig verklebt. Trotzdem können wir das Cottage aufgrund der Lage, des Kontaktes zum Vermieter und der Ausstattung empfehlen.

Petit havre de paix autour du Lough Derg

Belle base arrière pour visiter les environs du Lough Derg et la région du Shannon (Clonfort Cathedral, Clonmacnoise, etc.). Le gîte est grand, propre et bien équipé. James est très aimable et nous a même renvoyé une turbulette oubliée. A conseiller !

Très bon sejour

Petite rue tranquille et gite très bien et propre. Propriétaire parlant un peu francais on apprécie et accueillant. L emplacement est très calme sans aucun vis à vis... mountshannon est très centre pour les excursions à la journée autour du lac du derg ou vers la côté ouest . Nous avons même pu faire un tour dans le début du connemara.

Wonderful cottage, Friendly Owners and Super Cute Town

We enjoyed a 3 night stay at this super quaint cottage in Mount Shannon. The cottage had everything you needed - double size bed, plus another twin - in a seperate bedroom. A kitchette including a mini fridge, full gas stove and electric oven. All the kitchen tools and essentials were there. Kitchen table, couch and bathroom with the necessities. In the middle of no where - you can sit outside on your private stone patio and enjoy your breakfast while enjoying the tree and lake view. A short 5 minute walk down a narrow, almost private road and you are lake side. Sit and enjoy the peaceful Ireland views and listen to nature and watch the fish jump. The owners of the cottage also live on the property and are super friendly and a wealth of information recommending things to do and see locally. We went to the Mount Shannon harbour early Friday morning and got a private boat ride to Holy Island. A wonderful hidden treasure. The boat driver is the local historian and full of stories and history. We also enjoyed a lovely lunch at The Snug - pizza and salads resturant in town. And lastly we lived like the locals and visited the Mount Shannon Local Market on Saturday. The perfect combination of small town Ireland. We had 10 day Ireland vacation staying in big town hotels, local B&B's, then this VRBO. This was a great way to relax and enjoy that last few days of the trip. It's only a 30 minute drive to Limerick which is a nice mid size Ireland city. Plus, it's well located to take a day trip to more popular tourist attractions like Cliffs of Moher or Aran Islands - but then still come back to the perfect quiet Ireland town.
