Ashland weekend

We came to watch our daughter compete at GMAC Indoor Track Championships! It was the perfect place for us! Quick ride from Ashland. She was able to come stay the evening and hang out but return to her dorm. Everything we could need was there and it was so cozy! It’s a super peaceful place! I’m certain we will back!

Peaceful Sanctuary

This property is beautiful, very clean and in the middle of the most beautiful, green and peaceful area we have ever seen. The house is equipped with everything you need. We connected with our granddaughter by working jigsaw puzzles and talking. Mot having a tv was a great thing and not missed. This home never disappoints. We have stayed here twice and look forward to staying here again.

Peaceful country setting

We stayed for 4 nights. It’s a cozy cabin in the country. Very peaceful and relaxing. Easy to get to and not far from town if you need things. Kitchen and rooms are well stocked with things like pots and pans and extra blankets. We did have an issue arise with the water, a fitting on the pump broke. The owners were right on it and went well above and beyond trying to make things right and accommodating for us. We had two adults and 4 kids and the house fit us perfect.

Retreat is the perfect description! What a gem! We wanted a few days to unplug and relax and thisnplace dod not dissapoint! Its cabin meets shabby chic...LOVED reading by the gas fireplace while sipping coffee! Its surrounded by beautiful Ohio farmland with the occasional horse and buggy. You can see sunrises and sunsets. Cute small town are 5-15 minutes away with little country stores and Amish/Mennonite goods. The owners were soooo nice! And everything we needed like fresh clean towels, kitchen items, paper towels etc were all there. JUST BOOK IT! It is such a steal and truly a tranquil place. Laurel and Jonathan, thank you so much and we hope to return soon!

A Cozy Cottage

We loved our stay at your cozy cottage in the country. Laurel was a pleasure to speak to and answered all our questions when we first arrived. We all enjoyed the fireplace on those cold Ohio nights. We had a lovey time with family for Thanksgiving and so appreciate the opportunity to stay in your quiet Shiloh retreat. We look forward to staying with you again on our next trip up to visit.

There are not many hotel and vacation rental options near Ashland University, especially ones that allow pets. The “Quiet Shiloh Retreat” met our needs for moving our daughter back in at AU and bringing our dog. It’s about the same quality as a Super 8 or Motel 6. There are a few things to note about this property: It’s old. The beds and furnishings, cabinets/counters, etc. are worn and dated, but everything is about as clean as a budget motel. As others have mentioned, there is no tv and the wifi is not great, but you’re out in the country. It’s peaceful. There were some things that were not as advertised. The place does not have central AC or heat, just old, small window AC units in two of the bedrooms, old baseboards, and two gas fireplaces. Hand soap and bath mats in the bathroom and paper towels in the kitchen were not provided. The house does NOT have a keyless entry. The owner just leaves the front door unlocked for your arrival with a key hanging inside. The door from the house to the garage does not have a lock at all. The rate is fair for 3 bedrooms, but the fees are way too high for cleaning (and it was not really clean), for the pet fee (advertised on VRBO at one price, but charged more, and damage protection, which is all in addition to the nightly rate and the VRBO fee. So, for 2 nights the fees double the cost. It was the only available option for our dates in the area, but we likely won’t choose to stay here again. It’s pretty mediocre.

So peaceful! Country walks were relaxing. Property owner very sweet! Warm weather came fast and patio needed some attention from the winter weather and Laurel swept it, did some painting and added a beautiful plant!

Weekend ski trip at Snow Trails

This house was very comfortable and cute. I booked 2 nights for myself, my husband, and our 12 year old daughter so we could be closer to Mansfield to ski. It was well stocked and had everything we needed including a coffee pot for mornings. The beds were comfortable (we slept upstairs). I saw online they do not have a tv, so we just brought our little tv and our firestick and connected our mobile hotspot. They had a few board games and reading material. My only complaint was that we tried to contact someone before arriving, also when we got there about a few things, and I never got a response back at all. Overall, I would stay there again!

Much left to be desired

Prior to arrival the day of, we had been informed that the water system was being changed and to not consume the water. Showering would be ok. This caused an inconvenience due to the fact we were bringing our 2 dogs as well and needed to buy gallon water jugs and bottled water. Upon entering the home it appeared to have an unpleasant smell and damaged carpeting. The space was dated and felt could be much cleaner. The window blinds and curtains were dusty, counters were worn and the main bedroom was very small and hard to navigate. My husband and I didn’t feel comfortable siting on either sofa and there was no TV. There were also huge spiders all around the home and the garage opens into the kitchen which was very unbecoming. We were able to have a small fire one of the evenings as we were pleasantly accompanied by a herd of cattle. The area was beautiful. Overall we worried more about picking up our dogs mess and cleaning up the house then I think we were able to relax. Great location however much to be desired for the amenities and lodging.
