The Selina Tulum property is very unique and a good balance of Tulum art with some expected modern conveniences. Note that because of the remote beach bungalow look and feel, you will have some inconveniences but overall the staff and ocean location made it unforgettable.
The most noticeable is the loud music from the club, but overall, the club makes the hotel have a very fun atmosphere (so it’s a blessing and a curse)
The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful. Paola at the Mia Restaurant was the most hospitable and made our stay special as she is such a warm person. The restaurant has a wonderful breakfast that is ambiguous on the low service charge per person, but we still thought it was fine for getting pretty great food every morning.
They have a great security team, cabs are right out front, we got to the grocery store in town for 25 bucks each way. The minimart right outside the hotel has water bottles. I highly recommend stocking up on water bottles there as water bottle prices vary widely and can be up to 12-15 dollars at the restaurant.
The bed was extremely comfortable, AC worked great, cleaning staff came every day and replaced our towels and sheets.
It is seaweed season but also low season when we visited in May. The seaweed does make it hard to get in the water but they constantly are raking and removing it. Having it be less crowded was a better trade off for us. The food options in and around the property are amazing.
